Best printers for the least amount of $$$

My scanner died. I tried to update the printer and it will not take. No worries, the printer is over 4 yrs old and it was a clearance purchase.

This is what I need for the house.
Printer that collates and double side prints with a scanner

Road printer
I need a scanner, works with phone and/or cord to the laptop. If it collates page 1 to page 100 that would be a bonus. If it prints double-sided at a reasonable price, I'll do the happy dance.

I do not want to spend $250 on a Canon mobile printer. Biggest bang for my buck is the most important idea.

I had a fabulous run in Eagle Pass and Del Rio TX last week. Sadly, I had tons of extra time and no fillers. The reason I couldn't do the fillers...no printer. This is not going to happen again. This is the very last time I'm going to pass up money on the fly.

Thank you in advance.

What kind of assignments do you do that require so much printing? I could count the number of time I need to print over the course of a month on one hand.

Download the app Letgo and search for printers. I see a lot of printers that people are selling at good prices.

there is one company that the manuals need to be printed and then updated every quarter.

My issue is I can be on the road and twiddling my thumbs after reports have been written and submitted. I could've grabbed shops on the fly last week. I don't stay at properties that offer printing at a price to their guests. I stay at properties that allow an old lady to have her Chihuahua stay for free, if he behaves. Since I didn't have any way to print stuff, I watched TV.

Except for one company, I don't print much of anything anymore, but it is frustrating not to have the option when it could be Cha-Ching! I had to pass on $75 about a year ago for one hour of my life, shop. There was no way to print information off. I came close to crying as I passed the location. I was messing around in the town so I could hit my other locations within time frames.

I'm normally in backwater areas and finding an open gas station with a clean lavatory is heaven sent. Last week, yes I could've found a place to print, but they close at 5pm and it was 6pm when I decided to look for more shops.

Believe me, I'm not going to spend a ton of money on a printer for the road trips. I want something that's lightweight and gets the job done. The house printer, I'll need something substantial because I need it for the family business as well.

And LisaSTL, thank you for your input. I respect your insight and love your sense of humor.

Need one now. Wally World will be my friend this week. But thank you for trying to help.

Have you tried "print as .pdf" and then save the .pdf file to a tablet or something? Then you can refer to the .pdf file when needed. Perhaps it wouldn't work for your purpose but I save a lot of clutter by doing that.

Best Buy has some great deals on all-one-printers under $50 (okay, $49.99). Don’t know about TX, but there’s always shops available at Best Buy around here. Plus, I like them because of their rewards program. I redeem my points for gift cards.
Regardless of how often you print what, over the long haul the most cost effective choice is a LASER all-in-one printer that only prints in black and white. The cost per page is very, very low for toner and the upfront price, on sale, of the machine can be around $50.

I just did Best Buy looking for printers, and HP has one on sale for 79.00, it does everything, is wireless and very nice. Buying a HP notebook reduces the price 30.00....run, don't walk...

I got a Canon All-in-One printer/scanner for less than $50 at Staples during a shop. It gets a lot of use and still going strong after a year.

I got an Epson All in One printer free of cost for testing it less than 6 months ago!
Thank you everyone for your thoughts and ideas. I went to Staples and found an HP. I spent more than I had planned but it has all the features I wanted.

As I know hp is one of the best that you can choose, because it provides good quality printer at cheap rates, By the way canon is also good that you can choose. You can purchase them from anywhere but I think amazon is fine because it deliver the products on time.

Good price for a quality B&W laser printer ($50 or less at Staples): [www.staples.com]

Add to that, the replacement toner is cheap, when purchasing generic, and this can print both sides. Personally, I like this better than my Brother equivalent, as I can print from mobile without any driver installations.

I just bought a new HP Envy 4520 and I love it. It was inexpensive. You can also get free ink monthly.

My husband works for a tech company that does repair, install, networking, medical software & hardware -- yada yada. Well, one of the dental clinics was getting rid of their laser printers -- just tossed out on the sidewalk. He brought two of them home and made one fully functional, no issues machine. They even tossed the toner! We have had it for over a year and still getting prints. It is a color printer, but I have gotten good deals on cartridges for when the time comes. -- $20-$30 each for HP branded from people clearing out their offices. Might not be so lucky in future.

I also have an Etsy, eBay, and person website so I print invoices and thank you cards, etc. It's been a wonderful investment. I can use cardstock, stickers, etc. or I can run a ream of black and white prints no issue. It does smell and get warm after about print number 50 but hands down, cost is excellent. Toner seems to last forever and stores much better too.

Another great deal popped up for this Brother laser All-In-One printer....

$90 at Office Depot: [www.officedepot.com]

1. Dirt cheap generic toner.
2. Wireless.
3. Laser, instead of inkjet.
4. Autofeed and flatbed scanner.
5. Duplex printing.

I like Brother printers. I use a black and white printer only for business. Much cheaper than ink. The cartridge last me a full year or more and cost under $50. Brother HL-227ODW wireless, cartridge TN450 high yield. This printer does not scan. I have a NEAT Scanner portable which I know I have mentioned several times.
