Fun hobby I'd like to share

I used to go to garage sales to buy and sell things to make some easy cash. But I've been to a couple estate sales and that is where serious money can be made. I bought a couple cameras, a Nikkon d40 and an olympus m10 for $40 each and various marble statues for $10 each.

The trick is to arrive 15 minutes before they start, because there is usually 20-30 people already at the place to get first dibs at the good stuff.

Proud of you Dave. When I first got married and bought our 1st. house, we went to Beverly Hills and a famous Real Estate Broker selling to the stars had his furniture for sale. We bought a fabulous dining table and 6 chairs, and I still have the chairs, the table was too large for my now house, but the chairs are great...yes, you can get quality stuff at estate sales, and it is fun...they made stuff better than they do today....too bad I no longer need anything. I have eclectic taste, mix antiques with modern, with many good paintings. My next life, I will be in interior design.

Live consciously....

I got a "Rape of the Sabine Woman" marble statue (11inches tall). It looks good in my office.

We live in a log home that we built ourselves. It is decorated in Early American Yard Sales, Auctions, and Estate Sales. Love to go but I can get in a lot of trouble!
I was borderline terrified to read this thread, considering who the OP is. I must say, I am pleasantly surprised. Best of luck on your new hobby Dave Pi. I like the statue.

Phew. I though you might be spoofing the potus and the Chinese companies who recruit male employees via sexist, practically obscene tactics.

Is anyone familiar with Maurice Utrillo paintings? I snatched a large original painting by Utrillo for $5, possibly the best investment I've ever made. It's signed with his name and it's a "Montmartre" oil painting.

Dave, that's fabulous...when I was in Paris years ago, they had a Salvadore Dali warehouse next to the Louve with his paintings from estate sales. I bought a small one ...still have it, would love to know what it's worth,
Paintings are the best investment....your doing a o.k. I haven't heard of your artist, but going to look him up, is it an oil or Lithograph?
