Hmm. Jimmy Johns is optional on-site and delivers "freaky fast" while Subway requires a visit. I have not tried Jersey Mike's yet, and I do not have enough information for a proper comparison of the three places. But you have made me think about these places and food, and now I will probably find some reason or other to get near Jersey Mike's (90 minutes away) so that I can compare...

Anywhere except Jimmy Johns. The owner of Jimmy Johns kills beautiful endangered animals just so he can take photos of himself smiling next to their dead bodies. Disgusting human killing my favorite animals for no reason. I will never, ever, ever patronize that place as long as I live!
Jersey Mike's is the most costly of the three, but the subs are the largest of the 3. I leave full. Can't say that for Subway anymore. I grew up one town away from where Jersey Mike's began, and they maintain quality and consistency from store to store. I do wish they cost less. Be sure to join Shore Points.

So I found a day for Jersey Mike's. I was glad to read that the sandwiches are substantial because on that day I will be busy. I will need the sandwich equivalent of Wheaties to fortify me for work and multitudinous little tasks.

WaWa is at the top of my list. They are a regional convienece store. You order via kiosk, so there is no room for customization.

I customize my hoagies regularly using the kiosk. Look again when you are there the next time. Ask for assistance if necessary. The hoagies are 100% customizable.

DiBella's is my favorite. They have hearty subs like Jersey Mike's but they are not as expensive. And their bread is the best I've ever had. Anyone have an opinion on Penn Station East Coast subs? They're popping up all over and I've yet to try them.

Hmmm. I used to eat Wawa's subs, but it's been a while. I think I'd describe them as closest to Jimmy John's in terms of quality and taste. They are quite good value-wise (affordable), though, and not bad at all for a gas station sub. Can be bought made-to-order 24/7, so that is unique!

Hmmmmm. Substantial. The meat is cut "fresh" when you order it, Shop-et-al and it tastes more "real" than other subs I've had. It seems healthier, but I could be wrong.
But, I wouldn't say you get a lot more proportion-wise. In fact, possibly a bit less. They don't give that many slices of meat. The veggies are more generous than a place like Subway that has gone downhill, but, again, I would not say it's anything abnormal than anywhere else. Although, you can always ask for more veggies.
I like their taste the best, but just can't afford them nowadays.

Haven't seen them yet, but then again, it seems like everyday there is a new place and I may have lost count here.
re: the "large" size for Jersey Mike's...they are the largest for sure! way bigger than a foot-long. But, they cost something like $16 after tax.
They last multiple means, but still too high for me right now. I eat there once in a blue moon only.
I like AYCE places that have soup, salad and bread like Olive Garden and Outback Steakhouse. For $8.00-ish, you're all set for the whole day! I fill up and am mostly done for the day's eating.

Sorry, the bowls aren't customizable. I like the fact that I can get a little bit of mayo on my hoagie.

Hoagies, not subs, originated in Philadelphia. Certain places in Philly still make the original hoagie. My Dad knows where to find them. It's all about the bread and the oil.

I may not have ever tried to customize a bowl. I tend to buy hoagies.

I went to get a burrito bowl a few days ago. Not only was it not customizable (I wanted half the rice and double the beans), but it wasn't available. I ended up with a delicious ham and swiss hoagie.

Yes. All hoagies, subs, burritos, wraps, pitas and burgers I get are sectioned into at least 4 portions.

Jersey Mikes, Jimmy Johns then Subway. I've always hated Subway. Growing up, we ate Blimpe.
They come in three sizes. The largest one must (INHO) be shared by two or three people. The middle one is for a person with a healthy appetite. The smallest one would be for a small appetite.

I stand alone liking a half tuna subway, fills me up and the price is right. Jersey Mike is plentiful here as they just built the fourth, but, although it's good, too pricey.

I like their tuna, too. They are one of the few that do not drown it in mayo. I can get two meals out of Jersey Mike's, when I can find one.
I tried a Wich Wich sub today, which wasn't bad. I would rate it above Subway, yet behind Jersey Mike's and Jimmy John's. The surprising thing of Wich Wich is making your order on a sub-shaped paper bag. That, and the prize. I found it to be higher than everyone else ($16 for a sub combo of chips + drink).

$16 for a combo?! Was that like a 14 incher or something? That is not a nice surprise. This chain has a few locations that have opened up recently nearby, I suppose I won't be trying them out, or at least ordering a smaller sandwich (unless it is a shop). For that (of my own) money I'm going to Texas Roadhouse or some other local Mom and Pop and get a nice 3 course dinner.

Jersey Mike's has excellent subs. Firehouse is great as well. If you ever see a Cappriotti's, go there. It's probably my favorite.
Whether Capriotti's or Casapulla's is the best is the source of never ending debate in Delaware.

Yet another reason NOT to patronize JimmyJohn's-- they require their employees to sign a non-compete cluse in their contract that prevents them from working in another restaurant in like a 5 mile radius that makes sandwiches. So if you lose your job, you aren't getting hired nearby. Crazy.

Many companies have non-compete clauses in their employee contracts, enforcing them is something else. They may be unconstitutional.
