The Big Chill arrives

Overnight we had 2 inches of rain and temps around 50F. Slept with a window open about an inch. Today the temp will drop 40 to 45 degrees and the wind is howling. The wind chill factor will be well below 0 F. Frostbite and hypothermia warnings are posted. Wind gusts are strong enough to topple small or frail folks. Emergency warming centers are opening.

Time to make soup!

We got 10 inches of snow where I am. Wind chill is supposed to be -27.° Brrrr….soup sounds good.

Lots of rain overnight, warming to 57 F. Getting windy now. Forecast low for tonight is 6 F.

Rain stopped, today a brisk 68ish and sun shinning...sorry, when all is said and done, CA is where I want to be.

We were supposed to get snow and ice yesterday but for the most part t it missed us. (Whoo-hoo!) However, the temperature tumbled big time. The high right now is 24 degrees. Hubby is making lentil chili for dinner.

Seems like it is time to actually pack up those unused winter clothes and take them to a charity or directly to a shelter. One of my housemates and I are taking quite a bundle to the local transitional housing support center tomorrow.

So many public facilities that would ordinarily host MLK Day activities are closed for the shutdown that This just seems like a good alternative to those volunteer activities.

The snow on my balcony from last week melted completely. Today was very windy.

Soup? Just finished making a large stockpot of homemade chicken noodle soup. Liquid medicine for the cold/flu running through my household.

In the east we had snow, rain, ice. I live near the ocean and most everything is frozen, including my drive-way. I had to reschedule a few Boston shops, can't imagine the frozen parking spaces. Tomorrow the temp will go up to the 40s with rain, hopefully everything will melt.
My daughter flew in from Utah on Monday morning to Boston Logan, the walkway from the plane to the terminal was frozen, she couldn't get off for about an hour. You would think in this location that could have been handled sooner.

tomorrow is supposed to be in the 40s/50s...it is going to feel downright balmy!

Today was nice in Southern Virginia, a little damp but warmer than the past two days.
Winter has arrived, rain and more storms depleting Malibu with closed highways and mountains/hills coming down after fires. Snow at Mammoth ski resort so high, they had to close. CA is a wetland and problem being, no one knows how to drive in the rain. Coldest I've ever seen...but compared to Chicago and back East, I guess I can't complain.

Crazy weather, mid seventies here today in Charlotte. LA has been wild, my sister left there a few months ago. She left just in time.
DC area was in low 60s yesterday and should hit mid-60s today. Time to wash the road salt off of the car before the next "wintry mix" arrives.

It's cold here, too, and like a lunatic, I ran a bunch of errands in a sweatshirt and hoodie. Now I'm at home in a pajama set that is thick and fluffy, trying to warm up with hot cocoa....

It snowed so much in the last 24 hours that my driveway has been shoveled three times in that time period. I think that's a record for this area; we usually don't get a whole lot of snow.
I chose to rearrange all work due to potential adverse weather conditions. It would be nice to schedule once and for all, forget about the weather, and carry on... but I live here now. It's a thing. grinning smiley

Snow day yesterday at school and a 2 hour delay today. At least we have that as a consolation at work.
Burrr...waiting 8 to 12 for gas man, my heater stopped working and my house is freezing...right now it;s a cool 34% with another storm coming in, yikes, this is crazy cold weather for CA. I remember going to the beach many Feburary's.
