Gas prices up to over 4.00

Gas has gone up here for the past 9 days, it is now between 4 and 4.53 per gallon.

That's a lot. I remember when gas was over $5/gallon, but it's been a few years. Regular is around $2.86 in NY.
Ouch. I feel for you, Irene. CA gas prices are a big part of why I only visit every year or two. Gas is $2.45 here (OK), and that is considered VERY high here.
Wonder why I no longer drive all over or even into the city (30 miles) when they don't help with gas, and fee is 15 bucks....sad smiley

I filled up in a small town about 3 weeks ago at $1.97 a gallon.

It's now $3.03.

Sucks, when one's on an 800 mile route!
She's in California, half the cars there are electric, and honestly, the taxes subsidize the electric car companies. Seems like they are telling you what you should be buying next to me... If I had to live there, I would get a used electric car like a Nissan Leaf and call it a day.

Orlando - lightly shopping NC
CA has very specific gas blend requirements that are different from most of the country. Since ethanol-blend refineries have been affected by the recent storms, CA is facing a supply shortage. Coupled with high gas taxes this is causing a gas hike that is out of sync with most other states.
Half the cars in CA are electric, really...sad smiley We have strict enviremential laws which hike taxes and yes, gas is one of them, however, since I moved here (years ago), we hardly have smog, so having better air quality is worth it,
unless you drive for a living and work in a low priced industry. I know many people and live in a large development and no one has an electric car....more false information.

According to AAA, gas prices average $2.84/gal right now with California being the most expensive state at $4.02. Hawaii is second at $3.59 and Washington third at $3.46. Oregon, Nevada, Alaska and Arizona all also top $3.00/gal. Of course, this will further vary by geographical region within a state.

Hard work builds character and homework is good for your soul.
PA now has some of the highest taxes around... but its only $3.15 a gallon..

in time everyone will buy more electrics and hybrids and the price will come down

shopping north west PA and south west ny

*Only* $3.15? Lol, That may be cheap compared to CA (higher taxes, more tightly regulated blends...and now a refinery fire), but not compared to much of the rest of the country.

Welcome to Canada lol...here, it is $1.44 a litre!

$5.45/gallon

I will keep our prices!
Gas is currently running about $2.45/gal for E10, and about $2.60 for 100% gas in NE Oklahoma.

Gas prices in CA vary with location and stations, you may have read 4.02, but it's 4.19 here having gone down a bit and higher than that in other locations. Took a picture at Shell (highest) and Arco (lowest) totally different prices.

I was curious and looked up gas taxes by state. Pennsylvania is indeed the highest at $0.576 per gallon, followed by Washington ($0.494), California ($0477), Connecticut ($0.438), and New Jersey ($0.414). At the low end are Alaska ($0.1565), Hawaii ($0.16, also subject to county tax of 8.8-18.0 cents and additional sales tax ), and Virginia ($0.162, additional 2.1% wholesale tax applies in Northern Virginia and Hampton Roads area)

Shopping Southeast Pennsylvania, Delaware above the canal, and South Jersey since 2008
The direct fuel tax is not the only consideration. The businesses are taxed (directly and indirectly) very differently. In CA, the strict environmental laws regarding fuel production and sales drive the base cost of the fuel way up, for example.
I saw it for $2.19 in a city about 15 miles away from here. Prices are trending lower.
$2.09 here in the Upstate of SC. I say "OUCH!" to those having to pay such higher prices!

3 gallons cost me 15.00......
I bet that makes it really challenging to stick close to the reimbursement rate on some of these gas shops without the pump sailing right past that amount!
Gas has been going down, why it's only 3.89., down from 4;19.......sad smiley
I have a gas lover car, cheaper to stop shopping than buy new car.....

This was from January and the ignorant voters did not repeal the gas tax last election, so it was just raised 6 cents I believe, July 1st. They will also raise it every year forever now. It gets a COLA increase.
That is why I like doing gas station shops. One week I did so many that I had to use my daughters car when mine was full.
