ICs to Become Employees?

I caught the tail end of the topic when I turned the tv on this morning. Apparently there’s legislation in California that would make ICs employees. Did anyone catch it? I Googled it, but nothing current popped up.

The last I heard, some time back, was that California might make Uber drivers and similar folks have the protections of employment. I did not think it was broader than that. But this may be something different.

I'm in CA and up on the news, haven't heard anything about our industry implementing this..we are still Independent Contractors.

I just looked it up... There are two pieces of legislation going through the state legislature that would affect some IC's. However, from my (very) cursory look, it does not appear that either would affect shoppers in California unless they were working far more hours per week (20-30) for a single MSC than most of us do. Again, I just took a cursory look.

Yes, the legislature is being asked to protect the sort of ICs who really are treated like employees and should have the same protections under law. That is NOT us.
