Pay with Gasbuddy

Has anyone used Pay With Gasbuddy? You can get significant discounts on gas depending on how you use your gasbuddy card. It's not a loyalty program, really. It's more like a credit card that you swipe at the pump. You just pay a little less each time you pump.

Yes, super easy, although some of the gas stations are sneaky in that they still treat it as a credit card and charge you higher than the posted price.
There are a lot of gas stations that charge their own gift cards the higher rate, too. Those stations drop 5 points off of their 1-10 rating when they do that.

I just looked up gas buddy and it says you save 5c a gallon. My citibank visa card from costco pays back 4% on gas so if you are lucky enough to pay only $3 a gallon you would get back 12 cents a gallon at any gas station except other club stores like sams.. You do not have to carry an extra card for this and there are prob other credit cards if you do not belong to costco that do this. The limit per year is $7,000 worth of gas. If you travel a lot and spend more than that a year on gas you could prob get another gas credit card for the rest. Only a few stations here charge different for cash or credit.
Sandy, it's 5 cents to start with tons of opportunities to jack that up a lot. Personally, I play the credit card point game super hard. I'm having a hard time figuring out how to make this work, though.

Good luck. I think I would spend more time and gas going in and out of gas stations here to fill up my tank. I feel the same way about cell phone shops and bank shops here. I have not done them but have never waited for a person at a desk in a bank here less than 15 minutes with an appt and much longer without. Same for the phone stores. The wait is interminable until your turn comes. always. I have even gone in with one other customer and had to wait over 30 minutes. Not for me a job where I wait the limit and then get paid a pittance. Traffic, traffic , traffic. Full parking lots or every space taken by an suv over the white lines of the small compact cars so no one can fit in empty spaces. Not always but often enough to discourage running around from place to place.

Discover has 5% cash back at gas stations this quarter. I bought $200 worth of gift cards at Chevron.
The nice thing about the 5% cash back on Discover Card is that you can buy anything at the gas station.....including ANY gift cards that are sold there. I have purchased restaurant, Netflix, prepaid phone, department store, home improvement, and gas. You can even double dip if you use the station's loyalty card to earn points from the purchase. I try to max out the 5% bonus limit every quarter then just live off the gift cards until they run out.
