Just For Fun: What's In Your Car?

New day, new condition. Car is trashed! Now there is the detritus of enough caffeine sources to keep us going through an unusually large/lengthy amount of extra work along with the flotsam and jetsam associated with the work supplies.

It's okay. The extra money will more than cover an additional, thorough cleaning.

Like LisaSTL, I prefer to start each day with a clean, tidy car in which everything is in its place. I have to reach and find things in the dark for the early job. Sometimes, it is not so bad to have a mess due to extra work. Cleaning can be postponed, for the right price. grinning smiley...

Cleaned out my car, not horrible, but too many bags for shopping and water. Clean and ready for another day.
I don't keep receipts in car, but half dranken coffee is my enemy, not any more (at least for today).

My car stays almost completely empty. Small amount of change, Amazon Echo Auto, two kinds of charging cables, spare napkins, registration. Seriously think that's everything inside my vehicle right now.

Your car stays that way when you are on the road? What kind of road warrior are you, anyway? LOL!
There would, of course, also be luggage included in that when travelling. Along with any purchases. Also sunglasses and my Peeps would normally be in there but I just returned from a trip in a different car and haven't put those back in mine yet. Things in my car annoy me. I throw out trash at every stop.

It's honestly kind of strange considering my house cleaning habits.

Peeps? As in those marshmallow Easter candies?

My house is pretty darned tidy. My car is now because it was just detailed a few weeks ago and I haven't junked it back up yet.
What's wrong with you?

I would opine that I'm the normal one.

Stormraven, you are my new hero! Prepped and ready for road trips! I have heated up food with my car motor but you could live comfortably for days when on the road or stuck in the middle of nowhere. That's what I had planned on doing when kids grew up but, well, now I have other stuff keeping me from the Easy Rider life. Still aspiring to it, though. Happy trails!
Ah, everyone is crazy but you? That says it all!

Jumper cables, first aid kit, emergency kit in trunk, hoodie and jacket, leftover Taco Bell iced tea, pens, phone charger, extra pair of underwear.

I drive a van, and the back "hole" i.e. trunk area has an old shower curtain and a piece of cardboard on top of it. Said items are permanent except to replace them with clean ones. They serve the purpose of keeping the van unmussed by the possums and raccoons we relocate. The have a hart cage fits right down in there and sits on the cardboard, which in turn sits on the plastic. The raccoons will tear the plastic to smithereens which is why we put cardboard on top of it. We have a never ending supply of those pests around here. And we live downtown so we relocate them to the country.
In other weird news we have a trash bag going at all times for empty bottles, kleenex, etc. We have a box of kleenex, and I always have chapstick. There is a roll of paper towels, a bottle of windex, a bottle of water in the side pockets. Also some of those plastic grocery bags. When one gets about half full I get rid of it and get out another. I also have several cd folders full of old cd's that I don't listen to anymore. Just in case I guess.
I just cleaned the van out recently and before that I had a ton of old paperwork and folders in there. There's a sheet covering the back seat because my dog gets all excited when she gets in it and rubs herself all over it. It's like she is trying to relocate her fur coat to the back seat.
I had my car detailed via a shop on August 1. They found an 8-lb dumbbell and a lot of shoes and a few socks. The dumbbell is in the house.

There are: a new jack, recyclable stuff, work supplies, a small amount of garbage, and [I think] an errant LP that slid somewhere. It is The Seekers, so it is important to find it soon.

Record, schmecord! There were two big, heavy bags of potting soil in there, too! *back whimpers*

I have a bike rack and a variety of cheap tools in case I need it. But as of late, I've nearly transitioned to commuting around town on one of those Lime scooters (cost me $50 out of pocket; long store) and my road bike.

Shopping the Greater Denver Area, Colorado Springs and in-between in Colorado. 33 year old male and willing to travel!
More recyclable stuff which almost buried the work supplies. After reading Tarantado's post about the little scooter, I tried to imagine us working on one of those things... BWAHAHA! I cannot begin to explain how this would look... but I think you would find it amusing if you could see it... grinning smiley

If ever we both completely retire, we could get by with something smaller. Until then, we have a large space to clean after we tote supplies for all kinds of jobs. It's okay. This big ol' thing makes it possible to do the work that we want to do now.

@Tarantado I never heard of Lime Scooters so had to look them up. What a great idea, I wish they had that around here.

Shopping the South Jersey Shore
Absolutely nothing, no seats, no dash, no radio.... I sold it, Greenville makes driving pointless. Hard to shop though!
I was on a route a few weeks ago where I discovered that a good portion of my car was full of ants! I woke up for some reason around 4AM and went to my car for something when I made the discovery. Turns out that I had parked next to an ant hill that was by the hotel parking lot. Several other guests reported ants in their car much later.

I was able to kill a good majority of the ants with Raid, yet it wasn't enough. I had to wait until 8AM for the closest auto detailer to open. At first, they balked at vacuuming all of the ants out, yet I had a manager finally give an employee approval. 2 hours and $36 later, I was ready to hit the road.

The entire ordeal ultimately delayed my timing by 5 hours, which drastically altered my overall route projections.

For those that have never had hundreds of ants in your car, it is NOT a good feeling (especially getting bit while en route to the auto detailer). I wish this experience on absolutely noone.
That reminds we of the time a brother was living in Florida. There was no free parking space close to where he work. He parked his car next to a dump site and walk to work. It took him about one week before he start noticing roaches in his car. It got so bad he had to use those Raid bomb. Luckily he was only there for a month.
When he return to the north, it was cold weather that some froze to death but he still had to Raid his car, for any that was resistance.

I can only imagine what he did with the stuff he had and needed in his car.

Oh I am sorry ERIC, this I know for sure was not in Tampa. smiling smiley smiling smiley
I always wondered where playing possum comes from. lol I'm trying to picture in my mind someone trying to get a possum out of a cage.

Would dumbbell be the latest boyfriend...(only kidding).....

Lol...no boyfriend. It's an actual weight that they found in the car. I bought it from Goodwill and it fell out of the bag.

"I told myself to quit you; but I don't listen to drunks." -Chris Stapleton
In the trunk, a 20 pound bag of bird seed, a bale of straw, a 50 pound bag of goat chow, a spare tire and stuff to change it with, a can of Fix-A-Flat, a big bag of kitty litter (dirt road, might snow later this year) and a beat up old comforter. In the backseat, on the floor, two pair of shoes that my kids kicked off the second they got in the car after school, a grocery bag full of magazines to take to the library, and the reusable grocery bags. In the cup holders in front, a bunch of change, some hair ties and my AAA card. In the console, a container of baby wipes which I use to clean the interior while waiting for the kids at the bus stop. In the glove compartment, the registration and insurance card, a bunch of napkins and a flashlight. My car is a mess.
There are extra (unneeded after all) merch boxes, extra supplies for the hubby job, a few scraps, and "numerous one eighth inch, brown, sticky spots on interior door panels and on front of dashboard". That is how a mystery shopper might describe the residue of soda spray. We can deal with that tomorrow (or Friday).
