Every try donating for FMT?

Anyone ever try donating fecal matter for transplants? I got the call yesterday that I've passed the screenings and I can start next week. I have to drop off 3 donations a week. Pay is $40 per drop off. I'm hoping they will give me cups or bags, cause I only got a the fold over sandwich baggies here at home.

It's amazing what I learn in this forum.

So I never heard of this before and went and looked it up. It's very much for real!!! But the only locations I could find to drop off your "stuff" is near Boston.....Cambridge, Boston and Summerville. Plus, for the location I read about, your age has to range between 18-50, so that would leave me out. Still, very interesting!!!
Although this is an unpleasant topic, I'm glad to see it treated seriously here. Although I am not eligible for this treatment, I have seen others go through it and come out much better, healthwise. Gut problems are horrible, and I applaud you for being a part of the solution. If you don't get something other than sandwich bags to use for your donation, ask a pharmacist what they recommend.
Turns out it's real. I thought you were sh*ttin' us for sure.

This reminds me of the Planet Money or Freakanomics (can't remember which) podcast I listened to recently about sperm banks. A college student with very desirable genes was raking in a lot of money making deposits 3x a week. It wreaked havoc on his sex life though. But seriously, I have heard the fecal transplants work wonders for some patients.

Having said that, the humiliation of carrying a huge box of my poop to the UPS Store to ship back to the Cologuard lab has cured me of any notions of toting said material anywhere ever again!

They probably could but I work full time so I wouldn't be at home during pick-up times. I could have done a pick up at work but that would be worse than going to the UPS store.

For the fecal donations, you have to be willing to drop them off yourself at one of the collection points. And all I could see were the 3 locations up near Boston, but they do specify that you have to be willing to come by 3 times a week and drop off your specimen.
I'm jealous of anybody who can poop three times in a 5-day period (they're closed Sat/Sun), let alone get paid for it. Hah!

My husband is up for that challenge. He is a champ. I can't believe we are having this discussion, lol.
If it was available in my area I would try it. I would do that over selling plasma (which I have considered when $ was tight), I hate needles.

A little nonsense now and then, is relished by the wisest men.
If I fit their age guidelines and was in the area, I would go for it. I have NO trouble "going", haha!! But from what I read on their screening guidelines, I probably wouldn't be accepted because of my past breast cancer/treatments. But for those who are in the area, and can meet the guidelines, it's an interesting way to make some money!!
I would love to be able to do this!!! Those that have the facilities near by, congrats!

My son donates plasma twice a week and gets about $500 a month, as he has some unusual and desirable antibodies in his plasma. It takes about an hour each time, so he is well compensated. My daughter also donates but she gets about $280 a month, since her plasma is more typical. They get paid on a debit card immediately after donation. It's a nice way to make some extra money while performing a vital service.
I'd do it if I were close to Boston. I did egg donation years ago and made thousands of dollars from it.
Egg donation? As in, donating your eggs for an infertile couple? It doesn't bother you that you very well have progeny running around out there that you'll never meet? To me, that's just bizarre. Same with sperm donation.
