Washers and dryers

grinning smiley You can always try some sort of reach extender. Inexpensive things to try are tongs from a dollar store, really long, strong tongs from a specialty store, high heels that you already own, and very long nails (if you wear them).

I never understood the appeal of front-loading washers. Top-loading washers have been just as efficient, long-lasting and cheaper than front-loading.

I had to replace my washer a few months ago. Space limitations meant sticking with a top loader. I have a devil of a time getting things out of the very bottom. I have to hang over the side with one leg in the air....

The new top-loading washer that is in the basement area (and which I seldom use) is so deep that I bought the long-handled tongs that are sold to help reach anything that you cannot. They used to be sold is "handicap" supplies for folks who cannot bend over to pick up things they have dropped, or to reach a high shelf. But, they have found a whole new market niche with their us with the new, deeper, high efficiency ashing machine. I actually now have one on each of the 3 levels of my home to make life more comfortable as I become less physically flexible, lol. (Aging ain't for sissies!)

Another thing to try is an aerobics step, step stool or sturdy chair. Raise your elevation and center of gravity, and have a different angle for reaching into the machine. Generally, the taller you are, the less of a lift you might need.

Yet another option is to invent and patent something. Think robotic, with hinged tentacles, baskets small and large, and hydraulic lifts... many times, I have designed a machine in my head that I personally might like...
