Taco Bell's Parent Company (Yum Brands) Acquiring Habit Burger

Hopefully the acquisition doesn't result in the Habit mystery shops ending or switching to another MSC. I like the current MSC they use.

I hope they keep the mystery shopping program. I like their burgers a lot better than 5Guys.

Agreed. They're also a lot cheaper than 5 Guys.

I'm sure the shareholders are excited about this acquisition. Yum Brands desperately needed a fast casual chain in its portfolio.

Never tried Habit, but heard they won some award for Best Rated burger out of 1,000 or so entries.

Better than In-N-Out, FG, Shake Shack, etc?
I enjoyed their salad as well, decent burger at a good price.....now their part of the Del Taco group, not happy.

I would say they're a slightly higher quality version of an In-N-Out burger, which makes sense since they're considered fast-casual, not fast food. Five Guys and Shake Shack are good but the price is a lot higher. Habit is a good balance between price and quality. Their fries are a lot better than 5 Guy's sad soft fries. I don't get why people like 5G's "boardwalk fries."

One of my friends is an executive at Del Taco; it’s not part of Yum Brands.

Yum Brands consists of Taco Bell, Kentucky fried chicken, Pizza Hut, A&W amongst others

For now, the program is remaining, but changing a little bit! Not going away smiling smiley
I just wish that we had any of those where I live (besides Taco Bell, we actually have one of those and it's horrible here)

Jenny, I used to love Taco Bell! Then I moved to Los Angeles and had a real taco.

LOL. You just have to appreciate Taco Bell for its own qualities. If you compare them to actual tacos, you won't be satisfied. grinning smiley

Habit Burger - I did a shop there once - was really awesome. I don't remember which MSC had it then and I don't know if it's changed. They used to allow enough that you could take a guest. My guest and I went and the majority of the bill was covered. We only had a tiny bit out of pocket. The reimbursement seems to have gone downhill, though. I don't recall the prices there, but really, I know the reimbursement was less than $20 originally, and we had a decent meal. I was seriously impressed with the fact that the MSC actually gave enough that you could get what you wanted, and take a guest and still not be out of pocket on it.

I - to be fair - have not gone on one lately, because I've been hard pressed for money the last several years and haven't really been mystery shopping until the last few months, but I feel like the reimbursement has gone way down and now the few I've seen seem to be for one person only.

I mean, I know very few people like CHC (I have had no problems with them personally) but the fact that they reimburse fairly generously for the food portions of their shops and you can take a guest is one of the reasons I like their shops.

I've been a little sad to see that Habit burger shops are only one person shops now, for the few I've looked at.

There were still one person and two person shops as of last month. I don’t know if that’s going to change going forward?
I used to love Taco Bell and I still do, but this one is awful. We don't have a lot of chains here, so everyone was excited when Taco Bell was coming to town, they had to have police manage traffic the first week they were open. But, this one is just awful!
Honny, we have 3 great Mexican places within a half mile of Taco Bell and I adore them, but sometimes you want a taco in and out in 5 minutes. CA does have THE best tacos, though.

Love Habit as they have shops for one and we have three in my (now) area. >
I see they already changed their age requirement, so I'm out...just tried to apply, no go.

Hi Irene! Shoot me a text or an email to let me look into the location you want. I actually did not know there was an age requirement for these. Maybe that is new, and if so, maybe I can talk them into an exception for a shopper that always gets them done without needing to be harassed to get it done.

I only see this:

Restrictions
You must meet the following qualifications to apply for this shop:
* You cannot have shopped the same location within 75 days
* Your age must be 18 years or More
SCM...your right, got it mixed up with my other favorite "Fish Grill", same MSC.

What is CHC?

I did the single order shop today. The fee is more than double the guest order fee. The reimbursement didn't cover a salad, but covered a burger. No combo was required.

Thanks! I don't do any work for them.

CHC = CHC Solutions. And not the MSC for either of those two restaurants (just to clarify). Or if they are, it's new and I don't know about it yet.

Taco Bell to raise manager salaries to $100,000. [www.zerohedge.com]

Ha! I should quit my job and apply for this.
