FYI (quarantine version)

This is a thread for useful information so we don't have to search threads all over the forum for something useful we saw. By all means post it in those other threads but if you could do a short c/p over here that would be great.

Here's today's useful information from me. I do curbside pickup from walmart. I was able to order a giant bag of potting soil and got it right along with the milk, bread, and wheat chex. I also discovered Tractor Supply will do curbside delivery where you order online, drive there and they put it in your trunk. I will get veggie plants that way as soon as the threat of frost is over.

If you are looking for work to replace MS income, quite a few grocery stores are hiring - and this will likely increase with more "stay at home" orders. In the Seattle area, Kroger stores are looking for "pickers" - folks who take shopping lists from online orders and pick up the items from throughout the store and prepare them for curbside pickup. My youngest was laid off by a restaurant recently and was hired within a couple of days by a local Kroger affiliate. He was getting his requested 40 hrs. a week starting day one.

Hard work builds character and homework is good for your soul.
I heard on the radio yesterday that if your charge card has a concierge service (most do) you can have them look for hard-to-find items like toilet paper and tell you which stores have the items in stock.

Great idea CQ!!!!

Panera bread is delivering grocery items such as fresh produce, milk, eggs and, of course, bread.

Won't AMEX be thrilled when the word gets out.

They've probably had stranger requests.

The LA Times has an article on how to remove gel nails at home.

My bank's app had COVID-19 assistance information. I was able to apply for a 3 month pause for my car loan. They are doing this for all loans: mortgages, car loans, credit cards. Check with your bank to see if they offer the same.

I know a scheduler who now picks up people's groceries and delivers them to their homes. She says she makes more money shopping for people than she did scheduling and editing. go figure. Seems to me like it is less work picking up people's groceries.

I went to Aldi this morning. Everyone who enters the store must take a sanitized cart to help with social distancing. That's difficult when there are more than two people in an aisle. They no longer require a quarter deposit.

Thank you Honny! I kept meaning to check but never did. I told my friend today and she said she already knew as she received a text from Verizon. You would think she would have told me. I dropped our movie channels 2 years ago and missed the last season of "The Affair." Will be watching this weekend for sure.

Verizon has the offer as a pop up. That's how I found out about it. The last season of "The Affair" was very disturbing.

The last time I went to Aldi I didn't really need a basket, but I was required to take one anyway. The associate explained that was their way of counting the number of customers in the store.

Yes, KathyG, and also for social distancing. The issue that I saw was in the aisles. When employees had the pallet jacks with merchandise to stock the shelves. customers could not move through the aisle at a safe side-to-side distance.
