Am I Irrational and Prejudiced? - spider vs. cockroach vs. leech

I HATE cockroaches. Hate 'em! They disgust me, creep me out, and I want them dead as soon as I see one.

...On the other hand, I don't mind spiders. I know they spin webs, bite, and can be a household pest too (but, they do eat other insects for you). If I see one and am lazy, I might not walk over to kill it. If I'm nice, I may let it go outside.

Is this a form of insectism?

Nope, because, "A spider is not an insect; a spider is an arachnid. Arachnids are a separate group of animals to insects. Spiders are members of the class Arachnida; insects are members of the class Insecta."

I'm with you on the roaches and the other one that I don't like are those big black "waterbugs". You never know which way the damn things will run. I've been known to spray a half can of bug spray on the suckers. And, please, no flies either!
Every person is prejudiced -- it simply means having a preconceived notion about something. I'm prejudiced against snakes of all types.

I actually don't even like the sound of the word/name: cockroach.

What anyone like them more if they were renamed ...maybe something like, ,mandelinas or caspians?
Don't Palmetto Bugs have wings?

Mosquitoes- the most dangerous animal on the planet. In 2017 over 400,000 deaths were caused by malaria, which is spread by those little pests. Yes, we have anti-malarial drugs but a lot of developing countries do not..
Interesting, Frugal! I went and looked up stats for spider bites -- 18 deaths worldwide since 2000, and ~5K bites (US) per year. That's statistically insignificant. ~21 lightning strike fatalities per year in the last 20 years.

Maybe we should be a lot more scared of the bloodsuckers and more tolerant of the spiders.

Yes, and there's nothing scarier and yuckier than when a giant cockroach that has been running from the cats all of a sudden takes flight...
Palmetto bugs and cockroaches are two different critters, although they look much alike. And yes, they can fly.
Depends on the spider. When I moved to this house I spent two years battling brown widows, which I had never heard of. I found only one inside, but outside I destroyed hundreds of egg sacs and killed a ton of spiders. They are mostly gone now but I'm still watchful.

I will say that I'd much prefer to deal with a cockroach than a dang LEECH.

THOSE are nasty!!!!!!
If a leech is bothering you that means that he already has his teeth in you whereas a cockroach usually checks into the new motels that I put up along the perimeter of the room. And do not get me started on flies, Although the salt guns work wonders on them.
