What else do you do for income?

Just out of curiosity and to get to know my fellow shoppers more, what else do you do for income? Is mystery shopping your main job or just a side gig?

I'll start...I have a day job working 9-5 as my main source of income. Fortunately, I work from home so can spare a few minutes to check job boards for mystery shopping assignments. I spend my nights and weekends completing these shops. On top of that, I also participate in clinical studies and focus groups. I really enjoy them, and find that the time invested vs payment is more appealing than the work done in shopping. Unfortunately, they aren't available as often as shopping.

Initially, the side gig started out as a hobby, but I can't seem to stop myself from accepting more shops, especially if they sound very easy. This leads me to be so busy and hectic this past month that I've made mistakes and got denied pay (totally my fault, so I understand, but still feel bad about it, especially when there were out of pocket expense of $30 that I had to take a loss on. BOOOO !!! )

What about you? How do you handle mystery shopping with any other jobs?

I'm a workcamper and get paid for part-time while camping for free in fabulous places. Then on my days off I do mystery shopping - I like the food ones as it pays for my meals. other shops I do are compliance shops and business verifications. I always schedule 2 days off to have fun. I'm usually near a larger city so there are plenty of mystery shops available

I cashed out $450 debit cards for the 3 Focus group sessions I did. Gifted DD $200 just because. She will spend or save it wisely. That I know. :-)
I wonder if they mean the job of campground host. ? smiling smiley

I'm a work camper seasonally. For me it means that you are basically the host (check guests in, clean) for so many hours per week in exchange for the rent on your campsite. Our job next season also involves hourly pay. We try to find jobs that are not full-time so we have several days per week for sightseeing in the area. There are several people doing this that live in their RV year round.
My only other income is from investments and a small early pension. I "retired early." You could call me part of the FIRE - Financial Independence Retire Early crowd, but I'm just frugal. I always saved since my first job, work on my house, autos, yard, etc. Search for "Mr. Money Mustache" and the "Trinity Study." I always believed money is a tool and should work for me, not, I work for money. In 2022 my investments dropped by 15%, but since I left my last employer it's averaged about +9% per year.

I do easy mystery shopping for frugal fun.

Some folks work camp near an Amazon warehouse seasonally.
i have actually gotten several focus groups off of facebook. the best survey site every day is crowdtap, you can regularrly earn on inboxdollars, swagbucks, and mypoints clicking on ads, if you want to earn a little watching movies instagc is the best. they are not regular but you can get in house tests and high paying surveys through pinecone (you have to try the onese sent or you get kicked out of the program) and forthright ($0.70 pay for being turned down from their surveys).

Very boring, not enjoyable but provides some great spending money. I do 9 tax returns and receive fair payment for my efforts. Fairly easy. Last year, one client sold a rental home. Trying to get him to provide needed documents was so painful.
I have a 9 to 5 job as well as a database manager in a hospital. Pretty efficient at my job after working there for so many years but doesn't pay as well as it should for a state job so was looking for a side hustle. I tried captioning videos but it was a lot of work for little pay. I tried things like Amazon turk and click worker which were laughable at best. But I had joined the reddit groups for those and people talked about some research study sites and also mystery shopping which led me to this group.

The research studies I can do on my phone on lunch and breaks, even during super boring conference calls. I also plan my mystery shopping on my breaks. Between the 2, if I average 14 dollars per day, I am hitting my goal. I try to do any jobs i can on the way home from work and on the weekends. My husband laughed at me at first but he is really looking forward to those reimburseable dinners I have scheduled
