Craziest Thing Server/Mgr Said to You

What have you experienced at restaurants that boggles your mind? Recently, shopping at a chain seafood restaurant, my plate of mix seafood pasta was excellent, until I came to a closed mussel. It was completely closed. When a clam or mussel do not open after cooking, it means that it was dead before cooking, and it is therefore, not edible. It should not have been served. I showed it to the server, but she did not know what to do, so she asked the Mgr to come over. The Mgr's response was, "They came in a bag, and they came that way." I was totally dumbfounded by this response from this inept Mgr. They will not replace that mussel, it was 1 of 6 on the plate. Nothing was done, no apology, no replacement, no offer of comp, nothing. The server claimed they cannot replace one item, they had to redo the whole dish. I gave up, just paid, left and write it on the report.

This isn't really that crazy. Crazy is when I watched an entire staff of bussers, bartenders, servers, and managers drinking on the job. It was absolutely wild.

Actually, that was crazy. They are supposed to be ServSafe certified and should know better.

I did a Texas Roadhouse bar shop. The bartender drank with me.

When I was a kid, my father and I went to a pancake joint. It was in a mini-strip mall along with a dairy store. We ordered milk with our breakfast. It didn't come. Dad inquired. It didn't come. Again. No milk. Finally, Dad told the server, "We would like our milk now." His tone was certain, but still polite. The server said, "We ain't got no f---ing milk." Her tone, like her vocabulary, was abrasive.

Trash yes. But, who uses milk in pancakes? Mix+water=pancake batter+heat=pancakes.

I make pancakes from scratch and use milk. If, when I'm ready to pour into a pan, the batter has thickened up a bit, then I might add a tablespoon of water. But otherwise, milk for homemade pancakes.

Not on a shop. I was having lunch with my co-worker at a nice French restaurant. I spotted a hostess wearing a fabulous outfit. We strained our necks checking the outfit out. Next thing we know, Mr. Obnoxious Manager is at our table asking "Is everything alright? I see you looking around." He had a nasty demeanor and appeared agitated. WTH kind of question is that? I have never seen this restaurant mystery shopped. It was high end and packed with lunchtime diners. I looked at him and said "Are we not allowed to look around?" He was flustered, made weird hrmmpppp noises and disappeared. We left the waitress a 25% tip and silently wished her good luck..

I use milk when making pancakes. So much fluffier. Whole milk is the way to go.

A manager called me by name once. The crazy part of it is: I've never shopped that store before. It was my first time in the store and in that town. It was in a state I don't live in as well. I know I don't know that manager, too. That was very weird.

Shopping Arkansas, Louisiana, & Mississippi.
