Do you start your day with coffee?

I'm a hopeless addict. I drink coffee pretty much every day. I usually prefer drip, but sometimes use the french press.

Yes, I have a French press and make Peets expresso every morning except when I go to Starbucks and hang with some buddies...then I have an expresso Machiaccto made with non-fat and foam to the top......only one cup a day, but must have it.

This is my primary service connected disability. From early morning to late at night. I do not plan to change...winking smiley

Shopping Bama and parts of Georgia.
I'm still learning 24/7.
I do coffee all day long in cold weather. In summer I rarely drink it, though I may have a cup or two in late evening.
I've tried to ween off coffee lately....unsuccessfully.

I blame MSing for the addiction, since I never really drank it until I started (a.) having it as a dessert option for restaurant reviews, (b.) staying up really late to finish reports & (c.) traveling a lot out of my time zone.

I have my Peet's drip in the AM and Illy espresso in the evenings for the longer narratives ;^)
Every morning, two to three cups. No one should look at me or speak to me, until my first cup is in hand. By 10 am, I'm done until the next day. Well ~ ~ ~ summertime, if I have leftover, I'll flavor it up and turn it into a yummy refreshing iced drink in the heat of the afternoon. I don't do barista or coffee houses . . . unless of course they're fee-paying shops smiling smiley !!
Move over Mert, I'm in the same boat. Don't try to talk to me before my coffee. I set the timer on the pot at night so I won't have to wait for it to perk when I get up. It is already ready. Then by about 10:00 I'm done with it. Sometimes during cold weather if someone at work makes a fresh pot I am tempted, but it usually goes cold on my desk before I finish it.
Love it, love it, love it! French pressed or Bunn-dripped Caribou Obsidian or Starbuck's Italian Roast are the favorites in our house.

Oh, if you love dark roasts, you should try the dark roasted Ethiopian Yirgacheffe from [thebottomlesscup.com] - Caribou had a Yirgacheffe briefly as a roastmaster's reserve and I was so excited to find this one. They roast in small batches and it's wonderful. Their shipping is very low, too. I need to order a bag for a treat!
lol... i avoid the stuff... caffeine makes me anxious and i already have enough anxiety already...

Reality:

Plain coffee here, whatever I can pick up on special at the grocery, made in a Black and Decker drip pot. I drink it with a little real sugar and some low fat milk at my makeshift desk while I check email and look over the forum.

Dream:

I wake drop dead gorgeous in a luxurious bed in a huge bedroom with enormous seaside windows. Late morning sunlight peeps through gauzy curtains drifting in the breeze. A maid brings my breakfast, including china cup and saucer, sterling spoon, heaps of sugar, lots of real cream, and a carafe of hot coffee. I finish off the coffee and take my cereal out to the balcony overlooking the sea. I perch in my filmy nightgown on the banister with my naked hairless legs and bare feet with pedicured red toenails on the rail and lean back gently against the post. My long, thick, beautiful hair blows in the wind. I lift my face to the sun, close my eyes, and smile, displaying my straight, white teeth and full lips. I am such a knockout. Then I throw back my head slightly and eat my special K.

So what are the rest of yall doing at breakfast?

I used to be addicted to coffee. Then I spent several weeks a year in Britain, traveling on a tight budget. Typical British coffee (i.e., affordable coffee) is so awful that I began drinking strong tea. Now I start my day with two mugs of strong tea (half Earl Grey, half Tetley British blend) with hot milk. Coffee is reserved for stops at Dunkin' or Starbucks or Micky D for large lattes for road trips.

Mary, did you write romance novels in another life...loved it.

Favorite coffees....
#1 Whole foods, strong, rich and oh so good.
#2 Peet's, always rich, strong and a "hello world, I'm here".
#3 Irene's house, french press, expresso beans, freshly ground, 1 tbsp to 1 cup filtered water, sometimes black, sometimes with a splash of half and half (fat free of course), in my favorite Dr. Phil mug gotten from going to the show and winning something or other.

Worst coffee....
McDonalds

Heck yeah!! My mother was a definite addict and started me off at an early age (more milk than coffee then, but now the other way around). I grind my own beans, usually a medium roast of some sort. I got hooked on Kona when I lived in Hawaii way back when but can rarely afford it now, unfortunately, so it's usually Columbian. I like it plain with just a bit of raw sugar and some 1/2 & 1/2. And it has to be fresh...not more than 30 minutes on the burner!

No coffee at all, low threshold for caffeine and would be climbing the ceiling if I drank coffee. I take a few sips when I have to order it for certain shops and then throw it out. It's all herbal teas for me. I save my caffeine intake for chocolate. LOL

The Bottomless Cup has a notice up saying they can roast a Kona blend on demand. If they charge the same $10 for it as they do their other varieties, that is a great price. I emailed her to ask about it.
I am also a coffee drinker. Tim Hortons X-Large. The problem is, it is 300 calories. 300 calories x 20/month (conservative) x 12 months/year = 72,000 calories. I'm reciting this in my head as I'm taking my first sip .... smiling smiley

Hah! Yeah, I do that, too. Fortunately, I love plain, black coffee. I like the frou frou caramel lattes and such, too, but I usually get drip brew when I visit a coffee shop.
Irene_LA Wish I could send you the Peet's I bought--tooo strong! I like Community Coffee. I'm more of a medium body coffee nut--One of my favorites to make latte with is Cafe L'Orange from The Fresh Market in Columbia, SC--haven't found it anywhere else. I have a French Press and enjoy using it more in the fall/winter as I drink less coffee in the Texas Heat! Already 101!! Maybe 110 on Wednesday-ugh!
I wish you could send me Peets coffee, try making it iced, that will tame it a bit. I do the peet's shops, so that helps. scgrits Wrote:

All day every day, 365 days a year. From sun up till I drop in bed. I have to say I am hooked on the International Delight Irish Cream. I like Starbucks or Seattles Best but I can make 2 cups to the one I get. I loved the Gevalia coffees I use to get. It just got to expensive to keep buying. I also like the Kona samples they would put in my box. I like going to Paneras and sitting on the patio with my friend & having coffee. I do like my sweet iced tea in the summer but I love my coffee.
Yes, I have one of those Keurig coffee makers. I like the strong/bold Paul Newman brand of coffee pods from Costco. I have some skim milk and generic Splenda. It doesn't always wake me up, but it sure puts me in a good mood. If I'm really tired, I can drink a few cups and still fall asleep. If I'm not that tired, it can keep me up late.

I like going to mom and pop taco joints for coffee and a taco. I avoid places that serve their coffee in paper or Styrofoam as it detracts from the flavor. There's nothing better to start the day than pleasant conversation, good strong coffee poured whenever my cup gets less than 1/4 way full, and don't forget a chilaquiles taco.
I'm not a coffee drinker, never have been, but this could *almost* make me want to drink it. Hilarious!

I have one or two cups of French Vanilla or Hazelnut every morning. I could not exist without it. However, I can't drink any coffee even decaf in the evening, it keeps me completely awake. I know I am totally addicted to the caffeine.
When I left education I left the coffee drinking until I went to work for a hospital and found the Kona. Sadly when I left the hospital I algain left the coffee drinking because I could not find Kona.

I have a swap friend in the UK who sent me some tea and I now I am hooked on the teas of the UK, Portugal, Poland and Russia. A cup before I leave for the day and a cup to enjoy when I get home.
Mmmm. French press. (We still call it a Bodum, since that was the original.) Bodum coffee does not get bitter if it sits around so we always have a pot steeping on the counter. When it is cold, you can mix it 1/2 and 1/2 with milk in a tall and add a shot of Torani syrup. Voila! An "iced latte" at a fraction of the cost.

When coming up the I-80 towards home for a visit I get excited at Ypsilanti MI because it means I am back in the "Hortisphere." I used to have to wait until I crossed in Sarnia, but they are spreading.
I take a three cup thermos and fill it with two cups of Amway 9-5 coffee and one cup of Kayo Hot Chocolate. YUMMY!
Finished my Peets's coffee job and this time they gave 1/2 pd. of Panama Don Pasco coffee beans from the rainforest...$16.00pd., and really great, I grind the beans myself, fresh and delious, goodbye Starbucks, happy to stay home and drink my own.
