Holiday dinner will be a big honey baked ham, along with brisket and sausage, furnished by my host. I'm taking dressing, rice, jalapeno cornbread, and loaded mashed potatoes.
Roasted turkey thighs, homemade gravy, pre-fab stuffing, round cranberry jelly, broccoli in a light cheese sauce. A local shopper buddy, who is very Italian, gave me a bottle of excellent Chianti to have with my solo dinner. I love turkey and gravy and have made enough for lots of planned-overs. If I have room for dessert, a lovely chocolate eclair awaits.

Cooking a turkey in the roaster. Did the honeybaked ham yesterday. I have gained 7 pounds this holiday season, so far. And I am not missing Turkey and stuffing, for sure! Hope everyone has a Happy Holiday!!
Making a turkey, brown rice and cranberry stuffing, sweet potato dish........not a pie lover, angel food cake with berries. Favorite turkey sandwich's for the week, and turkey barley soup.. My week is taken care of....

Live consciously....
Cornish hens, oyster dressing, green veggie du jour (whatever comes out of the 'fridge first!), and cranberries. No dessert here. We had sweets on the fly a few times earlier in the month.

I was a guest for dinner last night, taking dressing, rice, jalapeno cornbread, and loaded mashed potatoes. Thank goodness I was able to get away without taking any of the leftovers. I am nibbling on leftovers from the pot roast I had a couple nights ago. Lots of pumpkin pie still left, though.
Had a Monday dinner (happy hour all day on Mondays) at my favorite Japanese BBQ...Hanger Steak,
Harati Seak, salad and Miso soup very reasonable on Monday, cooking at the table always fun.

Live consciously....
Yummy turkey leftovers!

I have some deli rare roast beef and will have that with mashed potatoes and a green veg. A shopper buddy gave me a wonderful Chianti and I will have the last of that, as well. A little dark chocolate for dessert. Then? Green Bay Packers Rule!!!

Collard greens cooked with a smoked turkey wing, rice and black-eyed peas for prosperity, corn pones baked in my great-grandmother's cast iron, grilled pineapple, and a couple of ham steaks.

That was the plan! Black-eyed peas on New Year's Day have been a tradition in my family for generations. They are kind of nasty, but I eat them partly because of tradition, and partly because of superstitionsmiling smiley
No superstition here-- just a need to use up the last of last year's onions. We are having steak and onions.

And whatever else seems good. grinning smiley

Chuck cubes in slow cooker with red wine, Shiitake mushrooms, cream of mushroom soup and a little onion soup mix. Simmer until it is very tender and has made its own gravy. Serve with steamed carrots and mashed potatoes.

So cold tonight that a pot of chicken and dumplings sounds really good. Windchill is still around minus 20.
