What are you having for dinner?

Yummy Flash!

I have a Golden Corral dinner shop so I'm pigging out on veggies and pan fried seafood! I always check out the dessert bar first, get some bread and then avoid it after my meal. That chocolate wonderfall is just too tempting! A good salad sounds good too.
One of my favorite dinner shops because the ones here are always great.

smiling smiley Kind of what I did, except I used brown rice for the starch. Added a package of frozen peppers and Pepper Jack cream soup. You can forget cheese scraps in this house, but I topped with breadcrumbs and jarred parmesan. Wasn't bad, and there's only a serving left.
Tonite I have to find my New Years dinner out. I am out of town. So nobody even me will be cooking. I need to find blackeyed peas, collard greens or green leafy vegetable, and corn bread for the good luck dinner. We generally eat this meal after midnite but if can be served on NYD. :-)
I am so glad our New Year's Day good luck meal subs red cabbage for the collard greenssmiling smiley Otherwise loving the black-eyed peas and cornbread. For tonight it's something, anything on the grill since we are having an unseasonable warm day (60's and sunny) before the bottom drops out late tomorrow.

My homemade French oven stew: beef, basil, veggies, makes its own gravy as it slow cooks in the oven. (Makes the house smell divine for 6 hours, lol.) French bread, red wine.

Our traditional New Years Meal. A combination of our English & Texas backgrounds. Prime Rib Roast, Yorkshire pudding and Blackeyed Peas.
I am making homemade turkey soup with lots of garlic, parsley, turkey, celery, carrots, green pepper and scallions with rice leftover from yesterday's feast.
I love fresh turkeys!!
Traditional family fare, over 100 years in the making. Baked ham. Cornbread baked in a cast iron skillet, with a hidden penny. The person who gets the wedge with the penny will have good luck. The must have ~ black-eyed peas, for prosperity. I made Hoppin John with the black-eyed peas which makes them more palatable. Gotta have greens ~ collard, mustard, spinach or such. Green - the color of moneysmiling smiley I sauteed spinach and mushrooms. Then, my family's tradition ~ fruit salad with kiwi, pineapple, strawberries and bananas, with a couple of teaspoons of instant vanilla pudding.

This past year has been full of challenges. I ate all my black eyed peas and greens, to get 2012 started on the right foot!
Marinated chicken over brown rice and peas, fresh berries and sponge cake for dessert.

Tonight I baked a ham and made seasoned potato chunks (a mixture of onion, garlic, italian seasoning, salt, pepper and parmesan cheese), sauteed red cabbage and tossed salads. Mine had ranch dressing ;-)

Tonight, we had grilled salmon, marinated with a citrus dressing, sides of Caesar salad, a baguette, and Chardonnay. Dessert was a cup of coffee and a square of fudge.
