Trendsource

Cyn, I just checked my Trendsource folder and apparently they aren't the ones I did my BV for or else I'd have a copy. Some of the questions I had to ask were obvious, like whether they have an office front and a sign on the office. scam artists aren't going to waste their money on that. I also had to look at certain files on their computer and see their business license. They wanted to know if they had office furniture, too. The company I verified looked flim flam in appearance but they might've been starting out...I hope. They had everything they needed so I couldn't mark no because they gave me the used car salesmen feeling.

Thanks Angie helpful. Still don't get who the client is, though. The building owner, bank?
The client is usually either a credit bureau or a bank.

The questions you will answer are similar to :

"Does the business have appropriate tools for xyz type of a business?"
"Does the business have a sign?"
"Does the business have a lock?"

Etc...

EDITED:
They must be popular. I've noticed the ones in m area are being nabbed immediately.

I love Trendsource. I did a couple of surveys for the same company, the first one went great but the second one I had trouble with. I called the scheduler and he was sooooo nice, it turned I was worried about nothing. And they pay on time. Great company as far as I'm concerned.
I went to a BV and the target never showed up. I took a picture of the outside building, grabbed a brochure, fully reported what happened and TrendSource paid me in 2 days!

They paid me in full. 100%.

That is the integrity of TrendSource.
I have done several business verifications for them,( and hope to do alot more)and they are extremely easy to get along with and if you make a mistake say in a photo, they will give you the chance to go back and make it right.
Looks like this is one of the good guys!
I have done several BV's for them and hope to get more. I missed one this morning because was drinking coffee and not looking,LOL!
You gotta get the heart started somehow.
I did Business Verification a couple of times before. Then they changed requirements for certification. Although I passed the certifcation, I did not want to do another background check as I had just done one for passport pass for another company. Trensource said they needed help and that I was already certified without a background check because I am Canadian. So I applied for the assignment. I was rejected!

So, the next time they sent an email to ask for help, I replied that I did not qualify to do it. Again I was told I was already certified and did not need a background check as I am Canadian and to apply at the website. I did again! Sure enough I was rejected and told again to get a background check because I was not qualified to do the assignment. A vicious cycle that made me just give up. Sometimes as in other companies, the left hand does not know what the right hand is doing.

The payments schedule is the 5th and the 20th and they are religiously followed with very few exceptions. Once they miss a payment, I find it very effective to let them know. They are usually very good at it.
There are also some drawbacks for being an elite member.
On a completely different note with trendsource...is there any way of finding out more about the location of a listed shop than the zip code? There are some areas in my city where I wouldn't feel comfortable going/parking, and good and not-so-good can all be in the same zip code. Thanks.
I'm confused. When I log in the entire address is listed and there is an option for a map view.

Maybe it has to do with your history with the company? All I see is the name of the town and the zip code. There's a pizza delivery shop in a zip code not far from me, but I never take it, because there's not enough information displayed for me to determine if I'm in the delivery zone. No client name, no address.
I should have added, I have never shopped for this company before - which made me think maybe you need to have some history with them before they divulge more information.
That would make sense. I don't work with them much at all, but it has been several years.

So now that they have lost their big grocery chain I've noticed a bunch more BVs pop up and I'm wondering if they are going to start doing more of these. I've never been tempted to get certified and get a background check because they would only have a BV pop up maybe once every couple of months. Now I've seen half a dozen come up in the last couple of weeks and am thinking it might be worth the time/money now if they are going to have more of them in my area. Also I'm in the process of getting a loan to buy a house, so does anybody know if they run a credit check and if so is it just a soft pull so it doesn't affect my credit?

That is probably a question best addressed to Trendsource directly. I believe the are using an outside company for their background checks.
I have noticed it seems slower there now. I'm still kinda depressed about the grocery shops going away. I stocked up on some stuff the last round at least.

I do enjoy the business verifications mostly. Yesterday I ran into a PITA of a contact at a hospital I was at though. I prefer the home inspections over the business locations. I was leery of getting certified but figured the one time small cost was worth it. I get 1 or so a week of these. I wish I knew of another company that did these.

If you received a bribe attempt, you are supposed to put that in the report also
They also may require a background check as a risk management measure on their part. For example if they were to send a pedophile in to do a check on a daycare business, they could be opening themselves up to a huge liability should something go wrong. It also makes them look better to the companies who are contracting with them because they can say their people are "safe".
I have been doing BV's for this company for about a year. They pay timely and the BV's are generally with established businesses or new ones. I would say about 20% have been "sketcy" in home businesses but I enjoy working for them. The instructions are clear and the picture requirements make sense. I have had a couple times when the picture wasn't exactly what they wanted and I have gone back on two but no problem it was my fault. I would recommend them as an enjoyable shop to do.

Actually I remember GFK was asking for background checks on a specific job - some high end jewelry store perhaps ? That was over a year ago.
GFK needed them for the in store open audit at the big box electronics because big box electronics requires it of all vendors, employees, etc. Those background checks involved no additional potential liability for the shopper. The store requires the checks to reduce shrinkage since employees and vendors alike have access to both the sales floor and the back storage areas.

Trendsource's background checks were claimed to be for the safety of their client's customers but had implications of shopper 'expertise' well beyond that. I can understand that they didn't want to send an unsavory rapist out to visit a client's customer in their home, but when a business is open to the public and that business is in the home, the client's customer needs to be aware that they don't get to do a criminal background check on every customer they invite into their home. When the client's customer has a store front office they similarly do not get to even determine who walks through their door uninvited.
Those background checks apparently will be yearly.

I broke down and did the background check last year. When I signed in the other day, I had a reminder that I will need to complete the whole certification again (including paying for another background check, watching the video).
That's because they don't pay for them. At least GFK footed the bill and one check was good for the life of the project. If TS was paying for them I'm sure they'd find one to be sufficient.

Before they had the background check requirement, I did BV for Trendsource a number of times. Then they had a background check. I had no problem with that as I had to have it for my airport pass audits as well as some volumteer organization. However, I decided not to take any BV if they have that requirement. So, a few times they asked me to do BV and insisted that Canadians don't need a background check. Their system would not allow it but they can't seem to understand, and they sent me emails that I did not need a background check.

I decided to just drop it. I wish they would straighten it out. I actually enjoyed doing BV.
