I have worked for both. They are each professional, but I prefer LRA since they reverse the hotel charges, rather than making you wait 90+ days for the money....
Thank you, but I just got an e-mail from LRA stating that they were not accepting apps for msc's now. Another case of being a day late and a dollar short!*L*

Seems like LRA application you are not a contractor???? 100% travel?

Does that mean if you take you, you are hired on a full time basis?
I have worked for Regal. No problems except waiting for reimbursement.

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
I completed a few assignments for Regal in 2008, but didn't see any additional shops until last yr., when I accepted a single hotel breakfast job. Upon reading the instructions, 2 changes leaped from the page: The payment period had increased from 45 to 90 days and I was now required to pay with cash. I immediately contacted the scheduler requesting that I be removed not only from the shop, but also from the MSC's rolls.
I just snapped up three hotel shops in my home turf.

You don't apply with LRA for traditional mystery shopping assignments. They contract with other MSCs to fulfill those assignments.

If you do the work signing up for all MSCs that handle hospitality work, you will eventually find your way to the LRA shops. If you just want someone to hand you the answer, you probably barking up the wrong tree and that's also just plain lazy, so would would not be the kind of shopper they like to work with.

Keep in mind that since LRA farms out the shops, they are the client in this case. Mentioning the company they work with would fall into the category of disclosing a client and MSC in the same thread, even though both are MSCs.
SteveSoCal,

Thank you for the clarification. That would be just enough. No need for jumping to conclusions like "lazy" and other. And, BTW, nobody asked you to disclose a client. Read my post.
newyorkdan1, sorry if you felt my post was directed at you. It wasn't. No offense intended.

I have learned from experience here that without a disclaimer like that, I will get 20 PMs asking what company to sign up with.
I have worked with Regal Hospitality and hated it.

Not only was payment late, but the scheduler was a lying psychotic.

Sorry, but if asked I would tell everyone to stay far, far away. I've found too many other companies that are much easier to deal with.

Interesting development. I did just get an email from another MSC asking me to send my info to LRA for consideration for a project in my "home territory." I hope this may also lead to chances to do other sorts of shops for them when I travel.

Any comments on the level of narrative detail that they expect? I am not afraid of highly detailed reports or multiple interactions, but just want to have some insight from those experienced with the quality of pay for the expected reports.

I love their hotel shops because you are not easily "out'ed" and the hotels are mainly 4 stars. The hotel narratives are the most detailed of all the msc and you pretty much need to write down every detail/action. Once you get the hang of what they are looking for, they will be one of your favorite hotel msc.

I love them. They make no bones about pay schedules being 90 days out. No problem with me and they are always right on time. Sorry you had a bad experience.

Walesmaven....That is an interesting development. Was it their normal MSC or a different one? I've done stuff for LRA before via a Third Party.

I have no idea who their "normal" MSC might be, frankly.

It's the one where if you are assigned a shop through them, they direct you to LRA's sassie website.
Regal now reverses the hotel charges in about four weeks. For LRA, I find the pay to be way too low for the level of effort they are expecting. I did the exact same survey for Intellishop, heard nothing from the editor and received a 10, and it paid $15 more than LRA. It was the high end of the chain, and a really nice hotel. I would do that shop again whenever I could. From LRA, after spending hours determined to write a perfect report for them on a hotel not at the highest end of this chain, I received a lot of follow up questions. It was a very frustrating experience, and the pay is less than half that of Regal, where I also hear nothing from the editors after I complete my reports.

Regal depends on the client. I'd say its about a 50/50 split on who does and doesn't reverse.

LRA has only a few projects that are traditional MS assignments and seems to recruit and keep a small cadre of IC shoppers for each project. They appear to be by invitation only. Most of their work is done by their employees and appears to entail much, much more detail than what we see offered,, including measurements, and requires a work history in the industry being reviewed. For these reasons, you are unlikely to see much about LRA in "the usual places."

If/when you see a traditional MSC that has LRA shops, understand that LRA is then the client, so you cannot reveal which MSC managed the shops. LRA may also use an MSC or a scheduling company to recruit ICs who may then have their ICA relationship with LRA, and the MSC or scheduler drops out of the picture. Either way, the shopper cannot reveal which MSC or scheduler was the source. At least, that is my understanding.

Hi Walesmaven. I'm not sure if that was directed at my post, but the Intellishop job was not related to the LRA job, it was just the same hotel chain. Another company scheduled me into the LRA shop. I have learned so much from you and really appreciate it.

Bayberry,
My post was not "aimed" at anyone. I did not see a problem. Was just trying to clarify and consolidate information that was scattered across several posts and might have been a bit unclear in at least one case. Not knocking anyone here, lol.
