Shoppers' Critique phone shops

Has anyone ever done their phone shops? The pay is measely, at least in my area ... $2.25 per call. Are they super short and simple like get the entire thing done in 15 minutes or less including report and phone call? I've done low paying paying phone calls for CORI when I first started but dropped them after I saw it was much more time that it was worth.

I only did 2 shops for them last year... an apartment and women's fashion store. Pay wasn't great but not horrible either. Mostly they have hair cutting shops for reimbursement only in this area and I will not get a haircut there, even for free, because you get what you pay for. I'd rather pay $40 at my salon and get a great cut. smiling smiley

I would also like to know if anyone has done these shops. Seems too low even for a phone shop.
There are people taking them in my area... a few say 1 or more shoppers in the queu.
If you're talking about the rental shops, I've done it once just to see what it was about. The shop was quick and the survey easy. However, the shop was rejected because I asked a "leading question." I asked the question when there was a big pause in the conversation. It was the kind of question that would have shown if the employee knew the merchandise. They want you to act like a real shopper, then, when you do, they reject the shop. Won't do any more telephone shops for them. They pay squat and having the shop rejected for such a ridiculous thing makes it not worth the effort.
I just got on here to ask the same question - What's the draw to doing these shops? They pay less than $3 a piece - usually $1.75 to $2.25 and they are never available to even try out and see what the hype is all about. Has anyone ever done one that can attest to their value??

See my comment above about my experience with one of their phone shops. That probably gives you the answer.
really !!

to do a phone shop for 2.25

and then have to spend time filling out a report???

Would I pick up a phone for $2.25? nope

never mind writing a 30 question report afterwards.

If you want to do the shop, you should ask for more money for your time, methinks

Other than 2.24 which I've never hear of, so far I've found them pretty nice.

If they pay on time I'll find them nicer grinning smiley

Saw that they have changed some phone shop visits from $12.00 to $8.00 if its the same company.
I just finished doing 5 of these phone shops and have had a couple of them returned by the editors because my answers did not match what they wanted, I didn't mention the things I had already said yes to in the body of the report in my comments. Also they did not believe the price I was quoted and when I verified it they still didn't believe it. If I get one more report back asking for clarification I'm done. I've done many of these previously and never had them returned with so much scrutiny.
I think this is the same company that emailed me asking me what race the salesman named Gonzales was. And then took points off my report because they had to ask me a question WHICH WASN'T ON THE SURVEY !!
Usually a phone shops are paying $5 such as car shops or apartment shops after hours. That kind of low $2.25.
birdie4u -- I think Shoppers' Critique (if it's the company that does tires and rental places) always offer $2.25-2.50. I actually did one of the rental phone calls just to see what it was about and had it rejected because "I asked a 'leading' question." Most ridiculous thing I had heard. Not worth the time to fight them over it and I'll never, ever attempt one of those again.
I have done quite a few of these. I consider them extra money that I would do before starting my day. Since I live in PST and many calls are in EST, I can do a few before I get ready to do other things each day. I am also a super fast typist, so the narratives are easy for me.

I don't think that it would be worth it to spend days doing these, when you could be doing other shops during the regular hours. If I have a day off, I can do 10 or so, but I see them as something extra to fill my time (outside of regular hours)...but if none of you want them, I will take them to do in my spare time. smiling smiley
I have just started working with this company and it seems that I just cannot please them when it comes to phone shops. I think they ask for way too much information and preparation for $2.25. I do phone shops for other companies and get high ratings. However, I have done two phone shops for this company and they rejected both of them. I have done six other phone shops this weekend. I guess I will see how that goes. If they reject any of them, I probably will not do phone shops for them anymore.
I generally do a few of these every month but I'm at the point where I don't know if I'll continue. They want you to wait to see if the other person offers some information without you asking and if they don't you're supposed to ask. I must not give them enough of a chance because I get dinged for asking almost every time.
From reading this, it sounds like I was lucky I screwed up and missed the deadline for two of these the other day. When I sat down at 3 pm to make the calls thinking I had until 5 pm, I noticed the deadline was 2 pm. I immediately went to their system, explained that I'd missed the deadline, apologized and offered to reschedule. I've since heard nothing about rescheduling and have received notices that both have been cancelled.

Maybe blessing in disguise.
These can be nice and easy and a way to rack up $20 a week when you are desperate for income. However, it seems the more you do, the pickier the editors become and more shops they reject. Each shop requires a narrative - the least amount of time I could do this in was 5 minutes. Also, there is a glitch in their phone system where it hangs up after 7 rings. This is not counted as an attempt. The scheduler I worked with was awesome. The editors were very quick to criticize and reject. I had shops rejected for "calling outside of the proper timeframe" and when I pointed out that the actual time of the location met the requirements, I was given a very brief apology and paid for it. But, it fell on me to double-check and clarify that. This is something worth your while if you are in dire straits. They do pay quickly. Otherwise, don't cause yourself undue stress.
