Who Complained on Intellishop?

When I first started MSing I want to say they paid the following month. THen it changed to "When ever they felt like it" or so it seems. Now I keep getting emails with bonuses saying, we now pay in 30 days and not 60.

I am KMSL at the thought of the meeting of the schedulers.

Boss: Why aren't you making quota?
Scheduler: The shoppers won't take the shops because of our stupid pay policy.

I love IT!

Let's keep it up and stand our ground. I have started asking the schedulers when they call? How long is the pay??? Sorry, I can't do it.

I noticed this too and was very pleasantly surprised. I did a couple of jobs for intellishop and then turned them down every time after that because they took SO LONG to pay. The commissions were small and the long wait for payment, it just wasn't worth it for me. However, I have started shopping for them again since they changed the pay policy. Yay!!
Hats off to Jacob for starting this whole thing and giving us a place to tell the truth and help each other.
Whenever I work for any company I expect to be paid in a timely manner. I turn in my shopping reports on time and I want the same respect in return and if a company can't do that I'll refuse to work for them.
I did two dealerships, one May 9th and one May 10th. I got paid for the 9th days ago, but not the 10th....why wouldn't they put them on the same pay period????

I did a couple of electronics shops for them some time ago. Both shops were done the SAME DAY, within an hour of each other, and reported that evening at almost the same time, but one was paid in in one pay period, one was paid in the next pay period. I was told there was a one-day difference in the days that they were reviewed, one barely made the cut-off period after review, the other was reviewed after the cut-off period.
I've been wondering why people are saying 30 when it is still 60 days. Their payment policy still states 60 with a caveat that selected shops will pay in 30. I noticed they shorten it to 30 when having trouble getting jobs filled that require a large out of pocket. All December they were e-mailing saying those had been shortened. Lo and behold, after I completed one in early January I was informed the shorter turnaround had been for November/December and they were back to 60 days.

LisaSTL, you answered my question, only one of mine was to be paid in 30 days, the other will take 60...silly me, thinking both would be paid in 30.....are they playing with us?

I don't think it's silly, but I do think it's confusing and not at all right. If they can pay some in 30, they can pay all in 30. It probably takes more manpower to do some one way and some the other.

I agree. I got the e-mail saying "We listened!" It promised quicker payment. And I started to see kudos to Intellishop because they listened to shoppers and now pay faster. I assume it was an "advertising" e-mail designed to get rid of some hard-to-schedule shops, because I've noticed no difference in the length of time it takes to get paid by Intellishop, regardless of what's been said here or the e-mail. My payments have still been made according to the same payment terms - SLOW - so IMHO no kudos are due to Intellishop for changing any payment terms or paying faster. Has anybody actually been paid faster except on that one project and during November/December? (I'm not complaining because they do pay according to their stated payment terms, unlike some others, giving me and other shoppers the opportunity to decide whether or not we want to accept the assignments under those terms.)

They pay within 30 days? Really? I need to apply for them then!
I keep takign these stupid shops that make me wait AT LEAST 60 days! I hate that!
I am having trouble making ends meet! Of course, plus too, they expect me to drive SO far, and pay me NOTHING for gas!
What's the point of that I ask?
No, they do NOT pay within 30 days. Intellishop pays at 60 days.

You may have the wrong idea about mystery shopping. Virtually NO company is going to pay you anything for your gas, so when considering shops you need to weigh how much a shop will cost you to perform before you apply for it (for example, how far away it is so you know how much your gasoline expenditure will be, and whether or not you will be required to spend any money, like cost of parking or a small purchase). None of the companies EXPECT you to drive any particular distance. The companies post jobs. They do not care how close or how far away a job is for you. You will apply for (or accept them, if it is self-assign) IF you determine the job is something you are willing to do at the price they have posted.

Almost all companies post their stated payment terms. I don't have a problem with how long it takes to get paid as long as the company pays me within their STATED PAYMENT period. If it's too long to wait for payment, I don't take the job.
[like AustinMom said]

Mystery shopping is not a fast way to make money, like walking away from a shift of waiting tables with a pocket full of cash. Most employee-type jobs have some delay on the first check. Have you ever started a job and had to wait three weeks because of a pay cycle? I have.

Some companies have payment *issues* but most pay like clockwork. I have never had a problem with Intellishop paying me on schedule. If you do jobs for them every month, the money will start to come in every month following that initial delay. Some companies do pay more quickly.

If you need money RIGHT NOW, exclusively mystery shopping might not be for you. I have paid my mortgage with it in the past, so it is possible, but not the first month into it.
Developing an MS business takes patience and some type of up front cash flow to keep you going for a few months. I was lucky in the beginning and avoided jobs that involved waiting for a reimbursement so my expenses remained normal except for the rise in gas costs.

That "silly" was tounge in cheek...the one paid in 30 days paid 35.00 as opposed to their normal 20.00, so, they needed it done and quicker payment was an incentive. Problem being, they should pay all done in that month the next month if they say they will pay one, why wait one more month, make your shoppers happy.

In a word: YES. They will say and do whatever they have to do to get their shops shopped. They were hearing that a lot of shoppers limit their Intellishop shops because of the long payment time, so when they had a crisis, they decided to throw us a bone. As soon as their crisis was over, it's back to the old slow-pay. If they have another crisis, we might see another fast-pay .... I guess it depends on how successful the fast-pay was in getting shoppers to take their crisis-shops. Time will tell.
I just had 3 phone shops cancelled because although I sent several messages, I never received a response. That's no way to keep a top rated auditor . . . probably won't be looking too hard for jobs here, unless it's for Russ, he responded in a timely manor . . .

It may have more to do with cash flow.
I performed two phones shops for them over one week ago. Both reports are still showing as complete. Reports have not been reviewed yet, and I have emailed scheduler as to why the reports are showing as complete and not reviewed. I have not heard back from him, so I am starting to wonder what is going on.
Intellishop is slow to review. Don't worry about it. You will hear back from them if they have any questions. They don't pay fast anyway. They are one of the slowest to pay, too. But, on the good side, they always do pay.
Does anyone have a URL to sign up with this company? Intellishop.com doesn't work for me sad smiley

Feel free to refer me to any Intelli-Shop work you dont want. They pay me EXACTLY when they say they will; if I have to wait 60 days to get paid it is my choice since the shop payment policy is pretty clear.

I-S is on my top 3 MSC list; they pay stunningly well, have excellent shopper support, and if you pay attention and keep your facts and chronologies straight, the editors are fair - tough, but fair - and to me that is a big asset.

Art, I have been MS and doing surveys with different companies for the past 6 weeks. The ONLY one I have found that is reliable is Intellishop. Any chance you would share the names of the other two companies that you have found to be dependable??

Would also like to hear from anyone else who has found legitimate MS companies.
Thanks
Sue
At the bottom of every page in the forum is the "Official List of Mystery Shopping Companies." There you can also see how many discussion are available and what people are saying. There are quite a few reliable companies.

Thank you Lisa,
I have dealt with a few of them, and 1 actually charges $29.95 per month for memebership...was was looking for something more specific and proven.

I guess I will just have to stick with trial and error.
You asked for legitimate mystery shopping companies and that list is it. Do you feel they are not legitimate? If that is the case it would be helpful to hear your experiences.

The only thing I saw where a fee was involved would be Shadow Shoppers. By using the link you can see the discussions about them. Few shoppers have found them to be worthwhile, but then they are not an actual mystery shopping company.
