Hotel shops?

Which MSCs offer hotel shops? I'm aware of B. Business Solutions, Closer Look, Customer 1st, Freeman Group, Coyle Hospitality, MCG, Data Quest and TNS... but are there others that offer hotel shops?

You can add Buckalew Hospitality. There are two more, but they are by invitation only.

How do you get invited?
@audrialyn30. One of the msc posts their restaurants, but not the hotels. Once a month, I get an email to apply for their hotels. The second msc was a referral from (I don't know who). I was asked to provide samples of my prior shops and once I was approved, the offers came by phone calls.

OMG.. do NOT work with Freeman!! I have a forum on here regarding problems being paid for hotel evaluations I performed. I was shocked at how many people commented on their problems as well. I have been informed that this company may be on the brink of financial disaster. I am already out over $200.00 out of pocket PLUS my pay on these shops. There are many others that are in the same boat as I am.

I'm on a hotel evaluationt with Coyle scheduled for 30th of January- 1st of Febrauary. Bit concerned about reimbersements becasue they pay by the 15th of the following month. Does that mean i book with my credit card in january and i finish the task by Feb 3rd and i would have reimbersements by 15th of March? That would incur a lot of interest on my credit card. Can anyone brief me on this concern?
Are hotel meals, etc. charged to the room? I have only done hotel shops where meals & drinks were paid with cash, up to about $300 in expenses for a 1 night stay. The room and valet go on your card, which is reversed, but the other expenses are reimbursed by the MSC. Curious about the cash (not credit) layout neede for a Coyle hotel shop.
Most of the hotel shops, you charge the shopped (bar, restaurants, gift shops, IRDd) portion to your room and the entire amount gets reversed. Most times it's reversed within 14 days, but sometimes they need to be reminded. The msc pays the fee and tip by check from 10 days to 30 days. One msc pays before the reversal.

shursurveys,
You may want to accumulate a savings account to cover hotel expenses while you await reimbursements. Some hotel shops reimburse 60-90 days after check-out. Alternatively, have a credit card that is used exclusively for reimburseable MS expenses and claim any interest paid on it as a business expense.

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
Thanks cubbiecat! I've only shopped hotels for MSCs that insist on using cash to pay for all required interactions (IRD, restaurant, bar, etc.) in order to observe & report on cash handling practices, so it has been a significant outlay of cash. The room charge gets reversed by the hotel, but the rest of the expenses are reimbursed by the MSCs, so I always plan for those shops carefully.

Thinking about expenses like that - were a hotel shop not be accepted by an MSC or the client, would the expense incurred be an allowable business deduction on taxes since they were only incurred for business purposes (even though not accepted by the MSC or client)?
yes, it would. It's part of the risk of being self-employed, that you might potentially lose money doing it. A traveling salesman might travel all over the state and not make a single sale but his expenses would certainly be a tax deduction.
