Buying the "2 Gallons of Gas" Shop...

I have never done the "Buy 2 gallons of gas" shop and wondered what it entails?

Have you done this shop and did you like it? Why/why not?

Thanks....

I could do those in my sleep. HOWEVER, they have some new editors who will not only find infractions where there are none, but make you go back to the location to take more photos of the infractions that aren't there. You will find your projects on hold more often than not and your answers on the form will be changed by them.

I did these shops and I found the commissions isn't worth it for the amount of work you have to do.
is that two gallons of gas?

or $3.00 of gas?

if it's 2 gallons of gas for $3.00 I want to know where Sunny days lives - I'm gonna go get my gas there.
Cettie,

I am glad I am not the only one having these issues all of the sudden. I fight each and everyone of them with an email.

Seems like each one says, we need a picture from across the street...when it clearly was. I then take a google maps screen shot and email them saying I was standing XXX I can't get much further across than that. Or I have been getting holds that are contrary to their published instructions. I then point out exactly word for word what the instructions say and point out this or that was not an infraction or was...whatever the case may be.

I am really getting tired of it and it is making me not want to take these shops anymore. Unfortunately, these are my bread and butter...may have to get some jam elsewhere. sad smiley

Edited to add: I have noticed my answers are changed alot now. Was not like that a couple months ago. sad smiley

Gas was $2.65 here about 2 weeks ago!smiling smiley
@ Sunndays

weklqo[vj t[oj'koglmkfv GRRRRRR !!! $ 2.65

Gas came down here and its still about $3.60

I'd be travelin a lot further if gas was $2.65
I have done many of these shops and I love doing them. You get three dollars worth of gas and 2.00 inside the shop. The company is nice to work for and always resond the same day when I have a question.
I like the shops. And I haven't had any editing issues, either. My shops are not the ones ctalbert is talking about...mine are 2 gallons of gas and nothing inside.
I did one of these, it went okay, but I don't think I want to do anymore. I haven't quite decided. My biggest problem with them is in my state, you can't pump your own gas. So you're standing there watching someone pump your two gallons of gas while you're looking at your watch. They think you're a bit of an odd duck, when you pull up to a full service station, get out of your car and watch them pump a whopping two gallons of gas into your car.
The editors for these shops are quite variable. Some shops the pictures are accepted and the exact same angle for another shop is rejected. I reject these shops for now.
Is this for Maritz Mystery Shopping? I've done these before. They are not worth the effort. Sometimes, if I need a "filler" shop to make my trip worth while, I will do one. Yes, I sometimes have the same editing snarls. I submitted photos for my last shop, then got an email stating they were missing. I re submitted all the same photos, and then they were accepted. Not worth the time going through this. My work is always accurate and completed with attention to detail.

I have had the same issues. I have one on hold now. Even though the picture was taken from across the stree, they want another one. I've also noticed they have changed my answers. I thought maybe it was just me maybe losing my mind. I feel better knowing I'm not. LOL
How do you know if your answers are changed?

I did have an editor call and ask me if I was sure there were only 6 pump toppers instead of 8. I had her look at the pictures.
Is this the one where you have to shell out the money to pay for the 2 gallons? (insider)

When they put your evaluation on hold and you go to add the pics they want you can see the survey and if something was changed. You can't fix it back, but you can see what they did to it.
I once did some extra work for that company and had to have a live interview. I learned at the interview that the editors look at the photos and the answers given and will change an answer for several reasons. If the picture clearly differs, they will change it. If there is an extenuating circumstance, the company has the power to overrule the shopper and change the answer.

Wow, I've never looked. I'll have to check next time.

The editors definitely seem to like to throw these shops back. Half the time the messages about why the shop was returned make little sense and I have to guess what they want changed.

Also they are very terse. They're canned messages. how long would it take to rewrite them with a "please" or "thank you"
I got some thrown back at me saying some such crap like the valance and skirt aren't aligned. Well damn, I didn't build the pump, they should go holler at them instead.

I think you are meant to go back to the station and align the pumps. Do you want your $10 or not?
I'm half tempted to give them my new phone number at 1-800- bite me and deactivate myself

One of the questions asks if the valance and skirt are aligned...maybe the editor was saying that you did not mark that question correctly?

I'm surprised..I seldom hear back. I did get a question about pump toppers once, and found out that I should not count the toppers on any diesel pumps under the canopy.
Cettie, how did you manage to get my phone number?

I think I will pass on this shop..It reminds me of when I had to take pictures at a gas station, in the blinding non-stop rain, holding the camera in one hand, the umbrella in the other,( to try and protect the camera)...meanwhile the wind blew the rain in my face anyway....
Sunny Days, I had one of those shops a couple of weeks ago. My problem was the storm hit so fast I got soaked and my car windows were down so my seats got soaked before I could get them up I had to get them. Trying to do that the wind blew the umbrella inside out. I had to wait it out , soaking wet, to get across the street for that shot. I could not take a shot in rain that hard anyway so did not even try.

On the same day I forgot a across the highway shot so I just submitted a halfway building shot knowing they would kick it back. They asked another question about the shop but not the across the road photo. So who know what is in their mind when editing.

I have also had them challenge a across the road photo of the entire station where you cannot see the front of the station because of all the trees in front of it. So I gave them a across the street side shot then they came back they wanted a straight front shot. They got the shot with all the trees and I told them the trees blocked the front. They finally took it and I have never been asked about it since.
