Bare Essentials and Shadow Shopper

Anyone know anything about these two companies? I get notices all the time. Shadow Shopper has all these great jobs IF I pay to join. Wonder if it is a real offer or just a way to get my cc info?

Shadow Shopper doesn't seem to have helped people at all, but it has cost them more than they expected.

Bare Essentials makes great make up.

Hello :-)

I did ShadowShoppers for the first month for $5. I did not renew. Its a Job Board that list jobs but you still have to go out and fill out the app. On the MSC website. The following month the membership goes up to $29.95 per month. Never got a job with them.

I didn't bother with Shadow Shopper since I was already registered with all the companies it was advertising for. I've never heard of Bare Essentials...
Bare Essentials makes Bare Minerals make up. Good stuff and I highly recommend itwinking smiley

Yeah, I think you might mean Bare International which is a well known MSC. Sign w. them.
The emails I have gotten from Bare for a delivery company - no pay - just get your packages sent free. I must have gotten that one a zillion times. I found the test to be odd - more like an ink blot test.
I have done several Bare package stores. They are easy, but you do have to pay for the postage up front and then wait for reimbursement. I use the shops to send packages to my Aunt in Tulsa. She loves them!!! They pay, but it's usually more than a month. I am very happy with them.

Have not done Shadow Shopper.
These shops pay a fee in addition to the reimbursement.

I paid the $4.95, thought that's cheap enough to sign up, for them to turn me onto a lot of mystery shopping company's.

Well I took full advantage, & signed up with a bunch of them. Most of them were the main vein for the arteries.

Anyways I get an email from Shadow Shopper saying that when they went to charge my card the $21.95 for my monthly fee, it was declined & would try again in 3 days, well he took 10 days, O darn, declined again. I know darn well that $21.95 charge monthly, I never agreed to, because you have to sign for that to be able to happen. But the $4.95 hooked me up with a lot of Mystery shops.

Then it became overwhelming, all of them hitting you at one time. The one thing I have noticed is they expect you to do LOT for very little pay. I told one of them,if it paid $100.00 I would probably do it, but for $10.00, you have got to be crazy. T.
OMG they preferred you to have a stop watch, they wanted the exact time, like 1 hr 32 mins. & 5secs. You could not round off. It was an 11 page read. They sent it to me again, now being offered $12.50. NOT Also on these shops, they say at the end, Remember you are on camera so they know if you are doing things correctly. Then to finish it off, they tell you "That clerks job depends on your report"

If you are able to record your phone convos with your rep. do it, that protects you, never rid yourself of any emails of them.

BTW I did 4 bank shops call/go into bank. After all said and done, time & mileage, I was in the red. So please read carefully all they want, because these people who set these up, have no idea, how to calculate anything. I have had them tell me a town north of me is only 50 miles, more like 95 miles.

JUST SOME FYI FOR ALL OF YOU, HOPE I HAVE BEEN OF HELP TO SOME OF YOU!!

I have done quite a few shops with Bare but have not done the shipping one. They have be good to me so I keep checking their boards. I did the Shaddow Shopper thing and agree with the others. Petty much a waste of time. You may want to check out JobSlinger. I think it is free the first month, so if nothing else, you could try it out and see what conclusions you come up with. The best advice I could give you on companies is to do a search by name on this forum and see what others are saying. I have signed up with and also cancelled my agreement with companies based on the threads I read.
The basic Jobslinger is free. There is a paid version that a friend of mine uses and seems to like. For me, free is always good.

I actually have the JobSlinger plus and forgot about it until this thread caused me to look at the site. That should give a hint on how useful it is to me now. Until i got my feet wet, it was a great resource and an easy way to sign up with 50 companies in early no time. Now that I somewhat know what I am doing, this forum is much more valuable and informative. It would be worth it for those trying to break into the business to try. The $5 monthly fee is worth it until you get comfortable and in the groove of finding resources that are valuable and free to boot.
Bare International payment schedule: all payments are processed in a 30 day cycle. For example: all shops completed in the month of July will be processed for payment between the 15th and 20h of August.

If you signed up for direct deposit with us, it will be processed for payment between the 15th and 20th of August. If not, you will be sent a check via the United States Postal Service. The checks are cut between the 15th and 20th of each month and mailed out over the next two to three business days following.

If you do not receive payment for a shop you completed please email: payoutinquiry@bareinternational.com with your full name, shop #/ID, and the date you completed the shop (all of this can be found in your shopper log).
Seriously? You originally posted that 7 months ago. Don't you think it is time to get over it?

I signed up with Shadow Shopper's "free" membership, which is pretty much worthless. So I took the trial $4.95 membership, and almost immediately got a call from an MSC that's turned into my favorite client. Did several applications within the trial period, then cancelled before that ridiculously high monthly fee kicked in. Worked out well for me doing it that way.

Sweet Thing, I think when you sign up for that "carrot & stick" offer, you have to agree to either cancel your membership before the trial period ends or have your credit card charged. Unless your offer was different, my recollection is that you can't do the reduced-fee trial on a closed-end basis. It's one of those typical deals where you have to actively cancel or your membership is extended and billed for.

I learn something new every day, but not everyday!
I've learned to never trust spell-check or my phone's auto-fill feature.

I signed up with shadowshopper , paid the fee and it has been very good for me. I have found several assignments thru the emails I receive. Most recently I received an email that may turn out to be the best offer yet.
There is a possibility that shadowshopper may be more beneficial depending on your location. There does not seem to be a lot of shoppers in my area and it has allowed me to know who has shops in my area before signing up. I get emails about every day or every other day.
I have been with Bare for two weeks now. I like the assignments they offer.
I know this is a very old post but, I am reading them all! I wanted to know how you get the 50 companies? Hope someone can still answer this question. Thanks!

Carolyn
Hi, Carolyn, welcome to the forum. Start by going to the link at the bottom of the page, Official List of Mystery Shopping Companies. The link takes you to a list of 200 companies. You can easily sign up with 50 or more.
