Corporate Research International (CRI) charges?

While not new to shopping, I am new to Corporate Research International (CRI). I I just got my for first pay check. Like many companies, i don't think they want us to keep track of the money they pay us. There is no indication as to what job this particular pay is for. The $ amount seems to be very low, and if I were to add in the reimbursement, I think I just wasted the better part of a day. Then to add insult to injury (or rather injury to injury), they made some sort of deduction... over 3% it seems like....a PayPal charge perhaps? Any body know anything about this?

Hi, Jesse. I also prefer PayPal, but I selected direct deposit with CORI because they do charge a PayPal fee while direct deposit has no fee. Second to None also charges a fee with PayPal but non for direct deposit. I suggest you change to direct deposit on both of those companies. I think they do want us to keep track of the jobs we do, and they have a history area that makes it easy. To see what you are being paid for, go to your CORI account and select "My History." It will take you to "Job History" where you can see all your completed jobs. Near the top is a tab called "Payment History." If you click that, you will see all your payments. That should help you figure out what you have been paid for.

Edited to add: On the "Payment Options" tab of your Profile, where you selected PayPal, this statement is beneath the PayPal election:

"PayPal Payment Fee Notice
Due to the transaction fees imposed by PayPal, Corporate Research International will be deducting the fee from your payment to cover the costs. The fee is 3% or a maximum of $1.50.

For example if you earn $10.00 you will be paid $9.70, with 30 cents covering the PayPal Transaction Fee. "

They charge a fee with Paypal because Paypal charges them a fee. I just use direct deposit with them. Also you can easily see which shops you were paid for by going on to your history on the website. It shows you the payment and what shops it was for.

If you don't snap up their shops quickly but sit and wait for a while the commissions can get quite high and are well worth doing.
Charging a fee for using PayPal is actually against PayPal's terms and conditions. They have a page for reporting this violation. You just copy/paste the terminology or the URL or whatever you have and PayPal will do the rest.

You are partially right. Don't anybody rush to report an MSC. It is against PayPal's terms and conditions for a SELLER to charge the BUYER a PayPal fee when a purchase is being made. But when PayPal is used to make personal payments, such as the payment of a MSC to a shopper, the payer is allowed to charge a fee. Here's PayPal's fee statement:

"Fees are based on whether you are making a Purchase Payment or a Personal Payment.

For Purchase Payments, the recipient of the payment will always pay the fee.

For Personal Payments, the following applies:

The fee depends on the Payment Method you use.
The fee is paid by either the sender or recipient, not both.
The sender of the payment determines who pays the fee at the time the sender makes the payment.

What is the difference between a purchase payment and a personal payment? This important distinction will determine whether or not it is against the rules to charge the buyer the paypal fees. The ToS clearly state that the fees of a PURCHASE PAYMENT must be paid by the recipient, however, for a PERSONAL PAYMENT the fees can be paid by either party with the sender choosing who pays the fees."

I wish it wasn't so as I prefer PayPal to direct deposit, but I have selected direct deposit for those MSCs who charge for PayPal payments.
I actually love Cori because they are so quick to pay. It seems like I'm always getting unexpected deposits from them. They're one of my top 3 favorite companies to work for at the moment. I like always checking to see if the commission has gone up on shops I like to do too - I suppose it doesn't take much to make me happy lol..
As a Canadian, my only choice is PayPal payments as they do not offer DD for us up here. The PP fees irk me as I don't have any choice in how I receive my payments.

Have you consider opening an account with RBC or M&I that have branches in both the US and Canada?

I do have a RBC US$ account - that's where I deposit all the US$ cheques then I wait for the US dollar to go up a bit so I can exchange the monies into CDN funds. However, because it's not a US bank, the digits to enter for direct deposit aren't what they should be so that doesn't work out. Bummer eh?

I even tried to link that account to my Paypal account so I could use the US funds to pay for things using Paypal and not have to lose out with the exchange rate. Paypal would not accept the account number as it wasn't a US account.
Direct deposit all the way. It may take a week or two to get your bank account verified, yet highly worth it in the long run to have direct deposit.
How often does CoRI pay and does anyone know any other companies that pay out fast. I have quite a few I'm doing now but I would like a little input

CORI direct deposits every Friday. The cut off is Monday of the previous week. Anything completed by yesterday would be paid Friday, 9/14.

For a long time they did not offer direct deposit, only Paypal and passed the fees on to us, the shoppers...it is irritating, because they are typically one of the lower paying mystery shopping companies in the business anyhow, and to take more out is ridiculous. I have been working for them for over 4 years now with nearly 600 shops under my belt, so yea, I have paid a lot in Paypal fees for the priviledge of being paid by them. Finally able to switch to direct deposit...yay! I have a love/hate relationship with them anyhow...love the number of available shops and sometimes being able to get a bonused shop, quick payments, etc. but the schedulers are all over the place...some really good ones and have had some really crappy ones, as well. Then there is the issue with only being able to enter reports in IE...their site is highly outdated and while they have been "working on it" for some months, I don't see it improving at all.
I have also shopped for them for over 4 years now and have been paid by direct deposit for the entire time. Shoppers in Canada have not previously had the option, is that where you are located and can Canadian shoppers receive DD now?

Their starting fees are low, along with Trendsource, Ritter and Market Force. On the other hand, their bonuses tend to be much higher and much more consistent than the others. They also have much simpler reports even if they do need to be entered in IE.

Would really like some help!

I was about to do an assignment for the first time for CRI - I applied, took the test, passed and continued to place in the shopping cart. When I went to check out a note came back saying my score was not high enough for me to do this assignment! I have never worked for CRI - this would have been my first time so no score could possibly be available. Does anyone who does assignments for CRI know what this is about?

Would really appreciate some help to understand what this means.

Thanks,

I "believe" you have to "earn" the right to self assign....and since it's your first shop you aren't there yet. Go on the main page and click on the live chat and discuss it there.
Hi nanabelle,

It wasn't a self-assign, however, I have received some information from them and it was an error.

Thanks for your input.

Hello everyone.

I'm Bre. I just completed an application with Corporate Research International. I started thinking about this forum when I got to the point to sign the agreement. I really do appreciate all these comments. It is very helpful

OMG! Is it wrong that I'm laughing my arse off that a Canadian actually used "eh" in a post?
