SHADOW SHOPPER

I started with Shadow Shopper..paid trial fee..signed up for a year and earned return in a few months THEN learned you do not have to pay for jobs. NARMS.com will send you a list free of jobs in your area.

I have little money but niavely signed up for Shadow Shopper if I don't want to use Shadow Shopper than how do I find legitimate jobs in my area? They seem legitimate they just showed a mystery shop for the local bus company in the city that I live.
I "accidentally" signed up for ShadowShopper several years ago. That's how I got started in MSing. I was so angry that they got my $99 that I vowed I would make it back and then quit! Well I made the $$ back and I'm still shopping 7 years later.

My suggestion is that you:

1) make sure you are NOT signed up for automatic renewal!

2) go to the section that says 'shopper education' and start signing up and emailing EVERY company that you can to make sure you are getting the jobs directly from the companies themselves. I actually took the time to print out every page of that directory so that I could have it as a resource and checklist for myself.

Unfortunately, you've already spent the $$ so get as much out of it as you can!!! Also, every time they send me an email and say how much they miss me and want me back for $3.95, I sign up just for that month so I can find out if there are any new companies added to the directory. I also get lots of emails and employer requests that I normally would not have gotten on my own or anywhere else.
Not sure what the consumerfraud link is for. I don't see any indication of any frauds, just someone selling you a shortcut you don't really need.

danacetz, at the bottom of this page is a list of Mystery Shopping companies. Sign up with them, and check their boards for jobs in your area. Use your shadow shopper membership as cmfreeman suggests -- get your money's worth out of it, but you can start signing up with the shopping companies on your own.

I pray it does not occur that the last thing I did before I died was vacuum the house or eat broccoli.
Ditto. They do seem to offer what they say they will. Things like auto-renewals are common and while I find them somewhat unethical (since it is often buried in fine print), the practice is not illegal. Neither is offering to sell information that can be found for free with enough research.

Anyone who has found this forum has absolutely no need to ever sign up with Shadow Shopper.

Never try to teach a pig to sing. It's a waste of your time and it really annoys the pig.

My advice, sign up on jobslinger.com.
It mainly works with sassie sites, but it has an UNBELIEVABLE list of shopping companies!
