Goodwin Pay (On Time, Without Being Asked)

Hey guys!

Goodwin shops a pool hall I frequent in town. Figured I'd try MSing it again to see if Goodwin was changing, like they claimed to me. Just wanted to report I was paid on time, without even having to email them.

I copied and pasted my post from another thread below...

A few months ago, I contacted the owner of Goodwin and Associates with a nicely worded e-mail explaining my frustration with not being paid on time and having to "beg" for my money. He responded quickly and apologized for the problem. Ever since then, I have been paid within a reasonable amount of time without having to send out reminder e-mails. Kudos to them for listening and taking action. :-)

rawraw ... you do have to keep your eyes out for the time that has passed since you perfomed your shops wiht them. If you don't get your check from them in a timely fashion, you write to Jackie Vessey, jvesey@goodwin-associates.com, and she makes sure that gets taken care of right away. I had to follow up with her a couple of times, but it does get done.
Great thread. It's always good to hear that an MSC appears to be improving, and especially when it has to do with payment. I am rooting for Goodwin to succeed and for all its shoppers to get paid promptly.

Oh I know. But I wanted to tell the forum that it appears they are actually trying to fix the problem. As noted above, we always harp on the bad but rarely the good (or improving) smiling smiley Always before I had to email them to get my money.

yeah Goodwin is very good about that. Others just blow shoppers off when it comes to pay. Then they still want shops to be performed and wonder why shoppers won't do them.
I received my last paypal payment about 6 weeks after the shop and was pleasantly surprised since it is before their stated payment schedule. Hopefully they are improving. I will see when I receive payment for my next shop.
I finally called them and left a message last week to request payment for a shop I did in early June. I got an email from them about a day later with an apology, and at around the same time a PayPal notification that I had been paid. I don't know if I want to do any more shops for them. I really liked the restaurant that I shopped, though, and would like to go again.
I only started shopping for them a couple months ago and all my payments have been on time.
Good to hear. I have not done any shops for them since I had to follow up on their payment for a considerable number of shops. I guess I will try soon and check them out.
I completed two shops for Goodwin in October. It gives me hope that I will not have to wait half a year for payment after reading the previous postings, as has happened to me several times in the past.

Keeping my fingers crossed!

This is certainly encouraging that an organization this large can finally run it's own payroll department effectively.
You wonder how the rest of the place is operated....

Maybe on April Fool's Day they will pay everybody on time just for once!!!!
I received a 10.00 payment for a job I did last year, one year later.....I totally forgot about it. Gee, thanks Goodwin!!

Live consciously....
I've done several shops with Goodwin over the past few months and my experience has been that they have really improved their payment system. At first I would have to contact them for each payment. Now they come in without any contact and usually sooner than their old 90 day turnaround.
I was told via email they are trying to pay quicker than 90 days, since MSers didn't like that pay time.
I think from the volume and frequency of comments about Goodwin on our forum and on V, it should have been very obvious to them for at least four years that shoppers don't like the long wait to be paid.....but shoppers like going back and asking for their money even less. Many refuse to shop for Goodwin, not because of however long the wait might be for payment, but because the shopper has been required to ask for their payment. If Goodwin begins to consistently pay within their stated payment time frame (whatever they choose for that to be), and shoppers are not required to make phone calls and send e-mails to request payment, they may gain more shoppers......and they will certainly make the shoppers who have continued to work with them despite the payment problems much happier.
Looks like they are really trying to improve their payment system. Here is what I found on their board this AM:

""Beginning with shops completed on 11/1/2012, payment terms will be 30-45 days.

As of January 1st, 2013, GAHS will only offer payment through PayPal. If you are currently being paid by check, you will need to update the system with your PayPal email address."

Hopefully they stick to this in which case I think most shoppers would be willing to shop for them again. I received my last payment from them within those stated terms. For me Sinclair is slower. Can anyone tell me if they are always slow? It was my first shop with Sinclair and I was really surprised when I received payment from Goodwin for a later shop before I received payment from Sinclair for a shop done earlier in the month last month. Goodwin used to be my slowest payer....
Something is definitely improving with the speed of pay coming from Goodwin. Just got paid for an assignment I did last month. My other payments from them have taken between five to six months.

I,too, was paid a couple of days ago, for shops done in October! I couldn't believe it.

However, it appears they may have paid me twice for one shop... I need to investigate!

Just thought I would let you know that I got paid today (Sunday night) for my November 27th shop. That is 33 days after performing the shop. That is a record for G&A ever since I started working for them October 2011.

I used to get paid in 80-90+ days and that was after sending them an e-mail asking for my money. Then it dropped down to the 50-60+ days range. Both my October and November shops were paid in 30-something days.

I did not perform any shops for them in December so they have paid me for everything in 2012. And with one more day to spare. Kudos to them for greatly improving their payment schedule. Happy New Year!

Looks like there's a positive trend going on with this MSC's payment policies. I'm really glad to see this turnaround!

I just got paid for my November shops tonight (the 30th) also!

Not only that, they paid me $14 instead of $12. (I had only done one job for them in November.) I don't know what's up with that. They even list the job, correctly, with the correct date and location. The extra $2 is not explained.

This is the third time in a row, I think ~ at least the second, that I've been paid the month following. Nice! : )

I am SO glad to hear that. I have reactivated with them because of the positive payment comments. I've been dying to go back to one of the restaurants they do smiling smiley
I also received payment for a Nov. shop on Sunday and thought it would be in Jan. bec. this shop was done towards the end of Nov. Looks like they are really improving their payment practices which I think is great. I like many of their shops and still trying to find the MSC that now has their healthy burger client.
I have been paid for all my August, September, and November shops. I will shop for them again!
I hope Goodwin has a rep lurking on the forum so they know how appreciative the shoppers are about the new payment procedures.

Other MSCs could benefit from following this example.

As for me, I choose not to re-activate my account. This is a classic example of that old adage: "To each his/her own." 49 years of self-employment have taught me that, where money is concerned, leopards seldom change their spots.
I have a feeling that the shoppers here on this forum will be watching Goodwin closely to be sure that they don't go back to their old ways of payment. This MSC stands to lose a lot of shoppers permanently if they do.
