Hi there,

Anyone shop Grassroots? They just transitioned to the Visa debit card for payment, and I cannot get mine activated by calling the number or by going online to the cited web site.

Anyone else having problems activating their card?

So they are not paying with gift cards from the individual restaurants anymore?

They still pay for the restaurants with gift cards. This is a retail store and they pay with a debit card. I don't like the use of gift cards and debit cards and don't take the shops. They have one restaurant that my family and I adore and I do that shop and take the gift card .... but only because of the restaurant.

The website has been under constuction for a long time and I just don't feel comfortable shopping for them.

They are transitioning their debit cards to a new company. I only had the old one, which I activated and used this week after receiving notification that (despite the 2014 expiration date) failure to activate ASAP would cause me to forfeit the $. That was alarming, to say the least! I haven't received a card under the new system. The old card required an activation PIN, which I think was the last 4 of four registered phone number.

Yes... I sent an email to support@grassroots. The fine dining always goes over the limit, and I wanted to use this visa card to compliment the restaurant card. I have a shop coming up soon. For those who don't feel comfortable shopping with this company, it only increases my opportunities. I like shopping for this company... and all my friends and family like that I shop this company <grins>

I love this msc also. I get my gift card like clockwork...never had an issue.

I have had WAY too many meals at their client companies and have a stack of gift cards to prove it. They make great gifts. I love their restaurants and have gotten the surveys down to a science. My card always arrives on time.

I just got a shop notification from Grassroots. It's for a restaurant that I really like, but it's pretty much impossible to get out of there for dinner for less than $75 including tip. Their only reimbursement is a $25 gift card towards a future purchase at that restaurant?!?!?! Seems like they are getting a lot of work for a little pay....

I too was interested until I saw the payment... Deleted that fast...

Same here. I've never been to that particular chain but wanted to until I saw the reimbursement.

I've never shopped for them because I never particularly cared for their business model, but at least with some of their others the reimbursement seemed somewhat reasonable. This one is just nuts. I guess you could go and get 2 burgers but who wants to do that at a seafood restaurant?!?!?!

I did that seafood restaurant and brought a friend. She paid me back for her meal, so I did not go over by much. It requires the shopper to order a speciality drink besides the appetizer, entrees. FWIW, the food was excellent, but the report is not easy.
