Five Diamond Hospitality

I've found one post on this company, asking about it. The two responses it got said they couldn't figure out how to apply or were turned away. Well, I too heard about it and applied. This morning I got an e-mail saying:

Here is our process to get you added to our roster for assignments:
1. First, we will conduct a very short phone interview to discuss your previous experience and assignment availability. We will also cover any questions that you have.

2. We will send you a test assignment for a quick audit of a hotel reservation. You will just have to call to book a reservation and then fill out our report.

3. Then we will start scheduling you for individual meals at our hotels. We typically have breakfasts, lunches, dinners, bars, coffee shops, and spas.

4. When you are ready, we will move you up to complete overnight stays.

Anyone heard of this company? It sounds a bit odd that it only generated one dead end post in 2011.

I pray it does not occur that the last thing I did before I died was vacuum the house or eat broccoli.
Google gave me a thread on Volition. Not super current, but this time last year.

I had a thread on here about them but can't find it in the search now.....it was from 2012.

Nice guys. Decent pay. Lighting fast pay. Still wasn't a good match for me because of reporting style, but YMMV.
Thank you. I found them by doing a search by "Pay" on Jobslinger. They were one of the few who were offering over $40 for a shop. Google gave me a thread on this site, the one I referred to in my original posting. But it doesn't come up on this site's search.
Someone asked, so I though I'd share it on here. Their application is under the Contact Us tab.
I've worked for them on several occasions and would do so again. The application process is pretty rigorous and, at the time I applied, involved writing a full report (on their templates/in their style) on a dining experience which was not paid or reimbursed. If you already have dining plans or a dining shop, you could certainly use that experience to write this, but I laid out the expense for a meal as an investment to join this MSC. YMMV. There were also several phone interviews. Their clients are top of the line, but their reports are by far the most intense of any MSC for which I've worked, Coyle included. One hotel shop had something like 22 separate reports, and provided minimal leisure time during the ~20 hours on-site. The reimbursement is generous and the pay is good but make no mistake, it is WORK! I have found the schedulers, editors and management to be incredibly accessible, responsive, and detail-oriented. smiling smiley I enjoy working for them but would not recommend it if you are considering it a vacation/leisure event. Other than sleeping, I think I average about 1-2 hours total when I'm not writing or doing the interactions and it usually takes me another 4-6 hours to finish the writeups when I get home, and I consider myself a pretty efficient worker/writer.
How much is the pay for 12 - 16 hours of work?

I've had great experiences with them. My only negative is that they contact YOU when they have something for you. There's no job board.
I think they may list their pay on certain job boards? It may be worth a few searches. I'm not sure if it varies by location/job/client, so wouldn't be comfortable posting. Also, I would guess the amount of work varies by location/job/shopper but I definitely put in ~20 hours total (waking, working) on a one-night assignment after all is said and done. It's the most intense, work-heavy "job" I've undertaken in almost 7 years of shopping, but I'd still do it again the next time they ask smiling smiley

Wow. I'd be unlikely to take an assignment like that for under $300. If I am working, I am certainly not reaping the benefits of the hotel stay, so the only benefit is the pay. At $300 that would be ~$15 an hour.
Hello! I am new to this forum and have been shopping for almost two months now. I performed a bar and dining shop for Five Diamond last week and overall, it was a good experience. The shop was not difficult, though the multiple cash transaction requirements at the bar were a little cumbersome. Both shops were cash-only transactions. The pay for the two shops was in the $40-$60 range, with reasonable reimbursement. The report form I was given was very straightforward and didn't require an extended narrative, like Coyle. I found the it interesting that one of the report writing conventions was the use of the third person, and referring to myself as "the analyst" in the report narrative.

My application was accepted about 2-3 weeks after I submitted it on their web site. I was notified via email and then asked to perform an upcoming shop. I did have a brief interview/prep session with the scheduler before the shop. He sounded like he was in a hurry, so I took notes quickly and hung up hoping for the best. He provided me with his cell phone number in case I had any issues during the shops, which I thought was great.

I did make a mistake by thinking that both reports were to be submitted by the end of the week (Friday). I shopped on Sunday and Wednesday. The initial email I received from them was confusing to me. It stated that the shop period was Mar 10 - 15. I should have confirmed the due dates, since there was no mention in an email or verbally about the 24 hour turn around.

I was called by my scheduler first thing this morning and was mortified when he asked me why I did not complete the reports according to the deadlines. He was not rude, but not exactly happy, either. The end result was that I submitted both reports on Friday and received one clarification question. I received an email later in the day from FD advising me that my reports had been submitted to the client and could I please provide my mailing address for payment.

I am curious to see if they will work with me in the future, given the snafu from this shop. Overall, I would say it was a good experience.

I hope this helps...
