ICCDS urgent email....anybody else get this?

Shopper,

The Federal Government requires us to collect certain tax-related information from all individuals that we conduct business with during each calendar year. We must also issue a 1099 Form to each individual to whom we pay more than $600 during that year. Your SSN must be entered in your Sassie profile before you are able to accept any future shops.

We apologize for any inconvenience. Although your SSN was collected previously, ICCDS is upgrading our security measures. This upgrade has cleared out all SS numbers from our system. Please login to our Sassie site (http://www.sassieshop.com/2iccds/shoppers/LoginShopper.norm.php) today to enter your SSN to ensure you do not miss out on any shopping opportunities. This upgrade will take place on June 26. We ask that you please enter your number. If your number is not entered you can no longer shop for us.

Thank you,
The ICCDS Team

I got it too. It sounds legit to me. I don't see how anyone could get your info, if you log in to the site on your own. I would be fearful of using a link to log in, however.
I received it, shortly after midnight last night. Took just a couple of minutes to update my SS/Tax ID info, and was done.
i got it and deleted it. I'll re-enter the info whenever
the next time I do a shop. Sounds like there is more
to the story and they are trying to hide something.
Why would just their sassie system wipe out
everyone's numbers. Makes no sense.

I logged to their site on and got no message or warning about SSN.
I tried to contact someone about why this is needed for Canadians, but I couldn't find contact info.

This is legit. I logged in to the ICCDS site (not thru the E-mail link) and updated my SS# and affirmed the ICA.
I logged onto my site and once I went to the Job Board I got the profile page and it would not let me go further saying I had two errors. Looked totally like every other Sassie site when they need you to update and once I did it then let me go into the job board.

I also got the you have successfully updated your profile email that comes right after you make changes on a Sassie site profile.

I will say though as soon as I got it I figured people would think it was a scam.

I had to read it 3 times and scan the email origin. It took you to your page with your real name. if they were fishing this would have went to fake web site to "phish" your SSN.

I finally decided it was legit because all my personal information was on that page. Plus, I believe it said UNTIL you update you won't get any more jobs. That happens with all the MSC's....
Same here, went to the website directly instead of using the link and got the profile page asking to update SS#. Received Sassie confirmation after I input the information.

Hello Shoppers,

ICCDS installed a new module for SSN's and in order to verify with the IRS all numbers had to be wiped out and reentered. Once you enter your numbers they are encrypted which is why the numbers could not simply be transferred over. Please contact one of our schedulers if you have any other questions or concerns!

Thank You.

I received the same, but went to the site manually to update. I try to remember to never click active links in my email, since the scammers are getting pretty good at faking sites. Since they already had the information from my original application, I did not feel threatened by re-entering it once I had gone through the site's front door smiling smiley
It is legit. However, what they record as income for the MS does not take into account mandatory purchases, reimbursements or travel fees, such as gas. They just flat out report what you were paid, not differentiating the payments and the reimbursements.
Don't you keep track of your expenses? It is not up to each individual mystery shopping company to deduct your expenses from your income since they would have no idea what expenses you incurred. As a small business owner you track income, reimbursements, mileage and any expenses business-related expenses. It is on your tax forms that you take all allowable deductions to offset your income.

this is legit. I have gotten a 1099 before from a company that I often shop with. I got one from ICCDS also.
