Kern Scheduling

Anyone had problems with Kern not paying correctly? I did a quick shop, with bonus, and never got the bonus. It's be 3 months now and they won't even respond except to tell me that I have to contact Kineses for payment, not them. Sounds a bit questionable to me.

KSS is a scheduling company. As a general rule, scheduling companies don't pay the shoppers. MSCs do. There's nothing questionable about telling you to contact Kinesis.
Yeah it's not at all questionable. Kinesis is who you worked for and Kern is who scheduled you to work for them. Kern is also working for Kinesis by doing their scheduling.

How on earth did you get a job scheduled through Kern? I've repeatedly applied through them for shops and have never been assigned one. Not one. I came to the conclusion that they weren't a real company and just someone's idea of a cruel hoax!
Do a search for previous posts about Kern. You will understand...

Shopping Bama and parts of Georgia.
I'm still learning 24/7.
I've done several shops for MSCs that were scheduled through Kerns and have always been paid on time.

Contact Kinesis with all the shop information, copy and paste the email that outlined the pay with bonus as well, and I'm sure they'll work with you to resolve this.

Best wishes.

I agree totally with DRG! I have also applied for shops scheduled with Kern and have never heard back. The jobs seem to remain on the job board forever. I cannot understand why any company bothers to use their services.

BOB'S reply:

I agree. That's why when an MSC informed me to contact the scheduling company for my missing bonus, I was surprised. This was the only occasion when that occurred in my 10+ yrs. in this business. It arrived, by check, a few wks. after the fee was paid.
Yes, that's been my experience as well - once in a great while, the MSC has set the rate they will pay and if the scheduling company is forced to pay a bonus to get a shop done, they pay it. This happened when I performed a bonused shop for Monterey - they pay very quickly and I was quickly paid the base fee without the bonus. When I inquired, Monterey told me the bonus would be coming from the scheduler and apologized that my bonus had not been paid quickly. They told me if I was not paid within the next 30 days to let them know. I was paid on day 28 by the scheduling company.

This is pretty rare - almost always the MSC you perform the work for pays you and the scheduler has nothing to do with it.
I am reading the above messages and am feeling discouraged. I am new to this business and have not done a shop yet. So I was excited to see 3 in an area close to my home. They were marked urgent! So much for urgent. Still haven't heard. I am fairly illiterate with this business. How do I get them to respond? Or do I want them to respond? Will I have a hard time getting my pay?
deegee, if the shop of interest to you lists the MSP, which has a job board - go there. Register, if you have not, and apply for the shop on their board. In other words . . . bypass KSS!

However, if the MSP does not have a job board, you will have no choice but to progress with KSS. One of these shops appealed to me. The MSP did not have a job board. I applied with KSS. A week passed, without word. I emailed the KSS scheduler, and got no response. Days later, I emailed Lorri Kern, and days later, got the response "do you expect us to work 24/7?"

This scheduling company is not known to be shopper friendly, or responsive to shopper communication.

I myself have had some issues with this company and am going to use my unhappiness with them as incentive to sign up with more companies that don't outsource their scheduling function to KSS.....Though out of fairness I have dealt with Summit Scheduling as an outsourced scheduling company and they have been nothing but great to deal with.
I have not had any problems with Kern although recently I have not used them much. When I first started they were one of my go to companies and I always got jobs I applied for. I do get the impression that many msc they represent give them their overflows and unfilled jobs. Sometimes I see the same job on both sites...Kern and the individual msc. So these jobs on Kern may have already been filled by the msc who has the job directly. For new shoppers, there are a few companies that seem to schedule directly through Kern, but for many of them when you see and apply for the job on Kern you are required to sign up with the particular company that has the job...generally you will get a message to that effect. Recently I applied for two Kern jobs from msc I was not signed up with. The site did not ask me to sign up with those companies but I did get an email soon afterwards from the msc who had the job asking me to sign up and then apply. Kinesis is one of the companies that seems to schedule shops directly, not indirectly through Kern. Bottom line new shoppers, make sure you sign up with the individual msc that are offering jobs thru Kern..you will usually not be given the job if you have not done that.
