For targeted apartment shops, what do you do when you call and another agent answers the phone if you can't ask for targeted agent? Wrong number, just hang up? What would I do?

If you are any good at accents throw in a few.

And if you get your target? Ask when they'll be there and show up at some point within that time period?
The hours and days you are assigned to work will usually correspond with the date and time the target is working, txshop.
If you get the target just let them do their thing. Most will invite you for a visit. Check the instructions, but most of the time if they do not you ask for a tour. Unfortunately, the days you are told to call don't begin to correspond with the target's work schedule. Trust me.

All of the above and also you can ask what their office hours are or just say, sorry wrong number. Make sure you dial *67 too.

When you reach the target, generally the they set an appointment. Sometimes they're not even there when you arrive, so you're supposed to then shop whoever greets you. If they don't set up an appointment, you can ask when they'll be there and say you'll come by later. I've done all of this and always get paid. Don't let it bother you too much. Just make sure you notice their eye color. smiling smiley

Lots of times, the company doesn't even know when their employees are working. They'll say the employee only works weekdays when they only work weekends.
Last week I had a problem with the target. I must have phoned 30 times and always got someone else. You can only come up with so many questions and so many accents and so many hang ups.

Finally, I got permission to ask for the target. When I did, the person who answered said that that target was in another room and she would get them to the phone. When they came back, I was told the target was not there after all. Another time, she had just left. Another time, she was on the phone so I said I would hold. When the phone was picked up, the person said that the target was not there, but she could help me with anything I needed to know. I asked the basic questions and hung up.

When I contacted the scheduler, she called the client and the client said to "give up". Lots of time wasted on my part, but that is the price for doing business.

Next week, I am assigned another target at the same complex and one who answered the phone a lot. Betcha the initial target answers the first time.
You need to make an appointment if you reach target, or if not, sorry wrong #.....read the instructions, it's all in there, really!!

Live consciously....
My problem was that I never reached the target...even after all of those phone calls and eventually asking for her by name. When I try my new target next week, I'll see if my first target even exists!
Also, if you get a recorded phone shop and accidentally dial 1-800 instead of the 1-888 number that's listed, you can talk to "lusty babes." Haha. And the non targeted shops aren't any easier than targeted since you have to get the agent you shopped on the phone. It always takes many more tries than I think it will.
EPMS will pave the way. Work with the scheduler. They will let you know how many attempts should be made; when you can ask for the target by name; and what to do if the target dodges - after asking for them by name. The calls are recorded, and the shopper is covered.
I did a targeted shop for them recently. Usually I don't have a problem with saying wrong number, the bell just rang, etc. With this particular shop, when I tried *67, I got a message that said that the management did not take calls that did not have a caller ID. The scheduler suggested spacing the calls and even using different phones which I did. When I still couldn't reach the target, she suggested asking for a similar name. I actually used the real name after 4 days of trying only to find out that the target no longer worked there.

A few days later, I got a new target to shop. Fortunately I reached the target after just 2 phone calls. In general, I only do a specific target if the location is relatively close by. Too many problems otherwise. Not being able to use the *67 made reaching the specific target even more difficult.

I would never make more than 6 calls over 2-3 days before asking the scheduler for permission to ask for the target. Many targets are adept at avoiding calls and visits. It's better to find out early on that this is happening, or that the target is on extended leave or no longer works there, so that you can terminate the shop without penalty to you. More often than not, my method leads to a discovery that the target no longer works there or is on leave.

I love that Instant Replays' schedulers (and a few others) will actually make a call to tie up a receptionist so that I can make a call a few seconds later to see who else might answer.

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
I love that Clear Evaluations will provide a schedule of when the target is actually working! On two targeted shops out of town I was able to reach one on the first call and another with only two calls. Meanwhile it had given me a chance to set a tentative route based on the days they each worked.
