Cancelled accounts?

Two of my friends were essentially fired or cancelled from MF within the last month. They sent messages to the help desk and got notices that they cannot reveal the reason for the independent contract cancellations.

Has anyone else been hearing this? Does it have something to do with MF's new grocery store shop which is apparently being bought out from a former North American based company?

MF has been doing that for years. They feel shoppers are a dime a dozen and regularly dump ICs who have been with them for a long time. Due to national security concerns, they are also never allowed to tell you what is in your super secret permanent record and believe me everything goes on your permanent record.

Ugghh!! It looks like they are getting my favorite grocery store shop away from another company my friend and I work for. I don't really want to see her lose those jobs but it seems inevitable. She is a single mother and needs the work.
Got an email from the help desk. She forwarded it to me. Said: they were cancelling all of her scheduled shops and "have opted to cancel your independent contractors agreement."

Another friend of ours who lives out of state had the same experience last month.

And they won't tell the first person why. My friend who just got canned doesn't want to ask.

I guess it's just over and it's over.
This is really strange! There's got to be more to this story, since the coincidence is uncanny.

The most important thing is for neither of them to feel about bad about the situation. Sure it might have something to do with a mistake here and there or it could be for no other reason than they have done a lot shops. And BTW, by mistake here and there, they have cut off people for as few as three errors over the course of a thousand shops. Around here somewhere is the thread that discussed a shopper suing MF on one of those court TV shows. During the post trial interview the attorney for MF basically agreed that the only qualification to be a mystery shopper for them was to be breathing. Do you really want to get your knickers in a knot over a company who is willing to publicly state they have absolutely no respect for you and your work?

Search this forum and you will find many, many people have been discontinued from MF and given no reason.

So, I will not be hurt, the day they discontinue me.

When my time comes, I'll be sad because one of their burger shops is a bonus cash cow for me, and the other is just yummy.
We need to let you know that we are opting to discontinue our Independent Contractor relationship with you and will not be offering you any other assignments.

As part of our constant effort to guarantee the integrity of our database to our Clients, we run numerous weekly reports to examine our Shopper database for inconsistencies. One of these reports identified an association between you and another person who was formerly a Shopper with us. We cannot go into more detail concerning the nature of the association since this is proprietary information and cannot be released to the general public.

While we are not stating that you did anything wrong, the mere association is cause for concern on our part, and it is the reason we have had to err on the side of caution by not offering further assignments. This action may seem harsh, but it is an aspect of the careful attention to detail that our Clients expect from us, and one of the things that makes us the leader in our industry.

I tried to copy-paste the exact verbiage MF used. I tried to copy paste the message they sent to her and it doesn't show when I look but a link states Hidden message. So I guess the two accounts got linked and so they canned both of them but waited to can the second.
What makes them a leader in the industry is the number of people they rope into doing their shops at substandard rates. It allows them to undercut the competition. Your friend is also not the first to be accused of an unsubstantiated association with another shopper.

Ah, the rest of the story...

Thank you! It wasn't some weird coincidence, after all. Do you or the person in the other state know the person to whom they refer?

Is it true what they say? Is Marketforce the largest MSC? Do they ever lose accounts? In the last 5 years since I have been shopping I don't recall having seen them lose an account.
The only indication of my discharge 3 yrs. ago was a missing "select new shops" button; I think that was its name. I never wrote the company as I well understood the conditions of our contract permitted both cause and no cause cancellations on each end. I completed the remainder of my assignments, was paid and shortly thereafter began losing weight, blood pressure points, waist inches and sugar count. This will be my 4th Thanksgiving to give thanks to Market Force for terminating our agreement and I never took the slightest umbrage at their action, for this IS business.
lol "leaders in the industry"... if that was written by MF, they are sure full of themselves! I agree with what Lisa said, I hope your friends aren't taking it too hard. I'm sure they are great shoppers and it sounds like MF doesn't want to pay hard work at a reasonable rate. Have your friends (or anyone else reading this thread) count their lucky stars and say good riddance!

My agreement has not been terminated yet, but I rarely shop for them. In the last 4 years it has probably been a total of 10 to 12 shops. Getting away from them had some interesting results. An increase in both my income and my free time. Think that is a coincidence?

I was temporarily suspended when my check was returned to them by the post office. They reinstated me once I responded to the email. I know every situation is different, but it does seem that any family connections/household connections are a big no-no for them.
With MF you can NEVER ever allow anyone to log into their account from your IP address and you can NEVER ever refer anyone. As I have said before, you might be the cousin of a twice removed shopper that logged into MF from a library and then you used the library computer to log in as well and you may have a cousin that worked at burger place for 10 minutes 5 years ago that would put you in direct violation of their ICA. smiling smiley
Hmmmm. Guess I won't be with them much longer. I just referred a family member. Oh well, they've been listing NO FEE shops lately for some fast food restaurants. NO FEE! I believe this is their end goal: to not pay any fees, just reimburse for food or service.
It appears they link IP addresses. So then, the answer is clear. You can not log on to a friend's computer who also is employed with MF.

I feel better now.
I was let go from MF also. I put in for a lunch shop and their computer read it as a dinner shop. After entering the lunch shop, the system asked why I had shopped the wrong time.

Never have I asked for a dinner shop at this location. I pick my cousin up from a medical appointment every Friday at 11:30 am. The restaurant was only a few blocks from the place I pick up my cuz so why would I ask for a dinner shop??? Even though I did the shop as instructed, their system read it incorrectly and I got the blame.

When I said something about it, they told me that I was no longer needed.
Interesting stories about Market Force. Sounds like their initials (M.F.) might really stand for something else...

In all honesty though, I have shopped for them for two years, and never had any problems. Perhaps I too will receive the dreaded "pink slip" one day. If so, I won't lose sleep, as I haven't "quit my day job" for mystery shops.
Since MF has cancelled the IC when they let shoppers go does that mean that the shopper is now free to mention clients and MF in the same message.

Inquiring minds need to know. LMAO.
