KSS International

Has anyone dealt with Kern Scheduling? They schedule for other companies, but people in my area of Tampa Bay never get notified of anything and the shops are never scheduled. Very frustrating, and of course, no one is ever available by phone.

I am not a fan of KSS but could you explain this? Are you trying to say that they are discriminating based upon where in Tampa Bay you live?

Kern is a real Train Wreck! View other posts about this company...

Shopping Bama and parts of Georgia.
I'm still learning 24/7.
They schedule for many MSCs. I think it depends on the scheduler. Some are responsive, some are like the black hole. Have you tried an email just stating that you are available and really want to do a certain shop? I wouldn't advise emailing constantly, but once in a while to say "Hey! I'm here!" never hurts.
Are you registered on the KSS site, and do you check their board? I just checked the KSS site, and see several shops that have not been emailed to me. One has to wonder why MSPs see their value. My preference is to bypass KSS, and go to the MSP site.

Having made that suggestion, I have found KSS to be unresponsive to my requests, more often than not.

Sorry, but have to disagree with you. I live in Tampa Bay and have gotten many emails and shops from them. I like them a lot.

(heart)

I intend to live forever. So far, so good.

I'm pretty sure they aren't the ones who pay. They only schedule, then it is up to the MSC to pay you directly.
If you get Kern emails and then they stop, log in and check your account. If you have an aol e-mail address--that's your problem. AOL kicks back any source of frequent emails==like mystery shopping company notices. That may be your problem.

Agreed. This goes for many ISPs.
The best way to ensure that you get email invites sent out by MSPs is to get a gmail account. This isn't an absolute guarantee, of course.

The worst blocking offenders seem to be AOL, Comcast, Optonline (in the northeast) and some of the smaller, local internet companies.

I'd like to add the word CHEAP to Kerns.

They have gas stations in my area. Its a 15-30 minute assignment, and the reporting afterwords. The pay. $2 + $10 free gas.

Gas is currently $1.45 a liter here, how can the expect to get the best people for the worse pay?

You are obviously from Canada as I am. The problem is that the U.S. companies pay us like they pay Americans because they do not understand the dynamics and costs here.
We pay more for everything gas, cars repairs etc. There answer is we have free medicare. What a joke. There is no free ride as we pay a lot more in taxes.

The only solution is for all of us Canadians just shopping for them and only shop for Canadian companies that in some cases do understand.

Of course this is impossible for many sod we take jobs like Cinnabon shops that pay $4 plus up to $7 reinbusement. No drink if they don't recommenced a specific drink or we lie.
I love Cinnabon but would rather pay for it.

Down with companies that pay the same amount in Canada as in the U.S.A.
Well from the looks of it, the USA will stoop to have socialized medicine. I would really like to know how it works for you. Pros and cons. If not here, PM me if you have time. The more knowledgeable I am, the better decisions I can make.
KSS is a scheduling company, not an MSC. I don't think that they set the pay, that is done by the MSC. They just schedule the shops.

I have to disagree with any negative remarks about KSS International.

They are one of my best for jobs. The schedulers call me frequently and always offer bonuses. What I like is that they have several customers on their web-site. The best you can do is go on their site and self assign or email a scheduler. I wish they had more shops in the Northeast area. Remember they are schedulers, the companies pay. Once a scheduler knows your worth, you can email them at any time. Lots of times if I'm heading to a location with other companies I email them and tell them the date I will be in that town. I always get a return call or email. I am MSPA certified and get mostly 10s on my reports. I have been shopping for seven years.
I, too, like KSS. I get shops in the Tampa Bay area through them and each time I log on, they have something. One of banking shops I often do requires you to have an account and you have to be eligible with some sort of military background. Since I am retired Navy, it works for me.

Today there are 15 shops in the Tampa Bay area and are mostly oil changes, tire rotations, and cell phone shops. No credit unions today...poo!

It takes 45-60 days to get paid.

One thing I'm not fond of is the timeliness of getting questions answered by the scheuler...one in particular. I ask a question about an assignment and he comes back with an answer to something I didn't even ask and never addresses the original question. When he finally gets around to the answer, it is not much help. Frustrating when you are either just about to do the shop or are at the location and something comes up during the shop that the instructions don't cover.
Hello,
I live in the midwest and just scheduled some work through this company in September. I had a very good experience with the company being prompt in the scheduling and did not experience any issues with them. This was my first interaction with them so I don't have a lot of experience to pull from with this company, but I would work with them again.
