Quest for Best.

I'm pissed at them. I traveled 150 miles RT to do a sandwich shop and when I got there it was closed permanently. When I told them, they simply removed the shop, apologized and didn't compensate at least the evaluation fee. The shop was relisted on this month's wave of shops. I should self assign all the shops on the board and forget to shop.

Sometimes I'll phone the location if it's far away, just in case.

I think paying you would be a nice gesture..good luck.
That's kind of why they put phone numbers into the shop instructions. Almost every MSC has closed location policies, usually involving calling first, or severely reduced pay if you arrive and the location is permanently closed. That's why they tell us to call ahead, especially if we are traveling.

That phone ahead thing doesn't always work. I called ahead to a restaurant once where I had a suspicion that they might be closed, and the phone just rang and rang. There was not a message saying the number was disconnected or the location was closed or anything like that.

I didn't feel that the lack of someone picking up the phone was enough to consider the business closed, so I drove to the location and found a note on the door saying that the restaurant had closed after 9 year at the location, and blah, blah, blah. Luckily it wasn't that far away.

The MSC didn't want to pay me the fee at first, but after I had several email exchanges where they were trying to get me to do more shops for them and I refused unless they made good on the closed shop, they finally paid the $5.
My situation wasn't for Quest for Best.

I've only done a few shops for Quest because they only have one client in this area, but I've never had a problem with Quest and wish they had more in this area.

BOB'S comment:

I agree. While it's been almost 3 1/2 yrs. since my last shop for Quest, due to them not having any clients in my area, my tally with them is 297 through the yrs. with nary a speck of a problem. This MSC is both flexible and accommodating with assignments, the reports are a breeze and the pay's "like clockwork." If you've an opportunity to be associated with Quest, consider yourself a fortunate contractor.
I love working for them. Easiest reports ever, and they don't freak out if you can't get a receipt. Wish they had 10 more shops a month in my area.

I just did a shop for another MSC where the property was closed. I actually called ahead of time to check, and the phone was out of service, so I googled the address, found the plaza it was in, called the Papa Johns right next door and asked if they were still there. They told me the place had closed a few months ago, so I wrote that in the report, collected my $5 closed shop fee, and went about my day.

I will be getting paid for the trip. The book keeper confirmed this morning. I just needed to vent. I did call the location and it rang and rang. These food shops don't always answer their phone so I went. Not like it was a total waste. When ever I travel that distance, I prospect for new business for my employer
