My Report was submitted

Ok maybe this is normal but I think not. I did a shop and completed all parts of it except I was waiting for the follow up portion. The MSC decided not to wait on the follow up because they needed the report but I never submitted it. Now, I got to do the update and it was submitted and already edited (obviously acceptable because no questions were asked for follow up). Here is the problem - first I would like to submit my own report when ready, second - they obviously answered the follow up question without having the details. Also, I realized there was a part that I would have liked to expand on because it would have made a positive impression of the sales rep and she deserved it and it was part of a question.

I guess my question is - How normal is it for a MSC to submit your report themselves?

This is normal for some MSCs and for some reports. There are a couple of companies - I can only think of 2 right offhand - Monterey and Service X (one particular client), but I know there are more - that have a shop report that contains a final section asking if the employee shopped followed up with you. They require you to complete the report except for that section and they take the report. You are requested to e-mail and let them know the final answer.

I felt a little uncertain the first time it happened (with Monterey) but I have never had a problem. I've never had a question on one of the reports for any of the MSCs and when I e-mail the final info I get a thank you e-mail. It has happened many times with Monterey, a few times with Service X, and it's happened with others. I consider it normal and it does not bother me.
Thanks I feel better. I didn't proof it because I planned to do it when I added the final comment. Fresh eyes.
Many companies can reach in to view or take your "saved for later" report whenever they want. Took me two years to figure that out. As soon as you save the information, they own it and you don't. Usually they aren't looking because they are working on volume=profit but it does happen. Be careful what you save into the report, even if it you are planning to take it out later. We never know if the editor is up against a deadline, bonus deadline, or trip to the beach, or if they have enough information to just rush your report through.

With Monterey their instructions specifically say to answer that section with all "no" and then email your scheduler if they follow up with the information and they will add it for you.

I had the opposite issue once with a company. I completed an audit and thought I had submitted it. I got a call from the company that the shop was late and I had to get it in ASAP. At the time I did not have access to a device with mobile data, so I verbally told them I was done and asked if they could just submit it for me. They said they could not see anything until I submitted and they needed it because it was late. I had to find a public library and opened the report. It was saved, so all I had to do was hit the submit button.
