Secretshopper.com is losing their bananas!

I had a shop that was due at 2pm on Sunday. I submitted it on saturday since that was the day it was supposed to be completed.

I received a vm on Sunday am saying the photos didn't come through so they needed me to resubmit the shop. Great I thought...no biggie...things happen. I log in...and its not there...hmmmm so i quickly shoot a email over to them saying it wasnt in my queue and so i am not sure if the vm was a mistake (i have received mistaken emails and vms from them before saying something was wrong then it wasnt). No response...then i get a email saying the shop is cancelled. Instantly I email asking why it was cancelled...no response...i email later in the evening as I had to go to work...no response.

Today I call them and the lady tells me it was cancelled at the shoppers request. I was like ummm nope I definitely didn't. She looks into it and says it was cancelled for not being complete and i explain i did complete it and even checked on sunday and it was showing as complete. She then goes back to it was cancelled by shoppers request...which i quickly question how that makes sense. She then goes on to tell me another shopper has completed it so they can not re-assign it....Seriously! This is driving me freaking MAD HOUSE!

I look at my email and they say that they cancelled it because it was not done at 2pm...so thank god for time stamps...i look and what do you know they cancelled it BEFORE 2pm...UGH! SO FRUSTRATING!

I LOVED them until this week...when this happened...mind you I completed this shop and received a follow up email saying just that...literally it is like they are trying to cheap out and not pay at all. I am starting to think they did get the photos but arent wanting to pay out on this shop....

I have never had any issues with them before...and it looks like because they keep getting caught with false statements that put them in the wrong. you should see the emails...literally it says "you completed the shop on time" and the voicemail (still saved) says resubmit as soon as you can...they called at 12:07, i logged in at 1:40 on a Sunday...after submitting the shop at 11am on a Saturday...and apparently there became a 2pm deadline for resubmits....but yet i sent a email prior to and they said that it was already slated to be cancelled prior to 2pm...HOW BOGUS is that...???

I only did one shop for them. It was in February, not much in my area. There was no problem. I got my cheque stating mystery shopper on it.

I did one VERY high value shop for them. It remains my favorite shop ever, not because of secretshopper but because of how easy it was and how much I loved the store.... and how much I got reimbursed.
Never saw another shop worth doing.

I did two shops for them in May. I checked back and it showed the date I would be paid. Cool! I checked back last night. The two shops are still listed with a date to be paid, but it says the payment is ZERO! I searched the site I finally found a note that said "If you do not write the shop identification number on your receipt before you scan it, your shop will be cancelled without notice! Has this happened to anyone else? Did you get paid or was the shop cancelled?

Looks like a case of another good company gone bad. Hope not but thats the way it sounds.

Shopping Western NY, Northeast and Central PA, and parts of Ohio and West Virginia. Have car will travel anywhere if the monies right.

Hi Linlam,

The shop payment shows as $0.00 until the shop has been edited. Your shops were recently submitted and have not yet finished the editing process at this time. This information is written at the top of the "Payments" screen: "Recently submitted shops which show 0.00 in the Payment Amount/Final Payment have not been edited. Once a shop has completed the editing process, your Payment and Feedback will be posted."

The note in the instructions does not state that your audits will be canceled without notice. If you did not write that audit ID on your proof of shop, you will be contacted by an editor for an updated image. If you provide the updated image within a reasonably timely manner, your shop will not be canceled and you will not be penalized.

I agree! Knowing that the company will respond to any issues on the forum is GREAT! As a shopper who never had any issues with any company after completing over 1400 shops in the last 5 years, I was curious and joined the forum.
Sorry but Secret Shopper is very VERY unprofessional. I did ONE shop for them. I read and re-read the guidelines and completed the shop according to their guidelines. Never heard anything from them. I went to log in and was given an error message that shopper could not be found. I emailed them and got a response the next day saying I was eliminated because of inaccuracies in my report. INACCURACIES???!!! I went over my copy of the report and compared them to the guidelines and still could not find what they were talking about. So I emailed again asking what was wrong with the report. I got told the client reviewed the video tape and did not feel it matched my report. I still do NOT know what did not match. I told them I did not falsify ANY info on that report. I never got an explanation or the courtesy of contacting me about the report. I have NEVER had this happen with any other company. The professionalism of this company is deplorable...or should I say LACK of professionalism. My concern is the "black balling" of me and its effect on my status with other companies. Does anyone know about the impact this will have on me with other companies? I have a high rating with all other companies.
I like their shops and have done a ton for them, I have never had an issue, even when I forgot to jot the number on the receipt, I do a lot of shops that you do not need to do that for (purchase and return) and more often than not I will forget to put the shop ID on the top of the other receipts.

Sometimes I get a note asking me to resubmit and sometimes I don't.

They are one of the first companies I signed with and I look forward to snagging jobs when they are available.

Hi, babs, welcome to the forum. The company does read and post here, so maybe Tyler will post and give us a little more information about what went wrong with your shop. It sounds as though you were not paid and were deactivated by the company. I doubt you have to worry about the company black balling you, because unless there is illegal activity a company would usually not publicize it. However, the internet is pretty public. It's very easy to register on a shopper forum and post how unprofessional a company is. There is an internet scheduler forum. It would probably be pretty easy for the company to post about you in the same way if they wanted to.
I want to chime in to say I like this company a lot and like their shops as well. I just really miss some of the old shops that reimbursed me for needed things in my life such as haircuts and vet visits. And I too love the "high reimbursement" shop they have now however I have to wait out my rotation so I am sad about that. My wardrobe is only half finished. I need the pants to go with my outfit!
Recently I did a new shop for them and had to call and email about a problem submitting my shop. They made changes and removed my shop from my not yet submitted list but did not contact me telling me that. When I called I asked that they consider a courtesy email letting the shopper know the shop was handled and submitted. I received two emails from different people informing me with a quick response time.
Be aware there have been many threads about a scam company with a similar name so make sure you worked for the real company if you have problems.
My limited experience with them has always been good. My experience is limited only because, even when they did have a couple of shops in my area, it was few and far between; and there were (of course) rotations). Then they went to rarely, if ever, having shops in my area.

Going back to the thread title, maybe they need to wrap their banana tops. smiling smiley
