Shop Angels payment question

I did three shops for them and decided not to do more until I was paid. Then I received an email listing shops needing to be done. I replied and said they are late paying me for my first shop and I won't take any more until I am paid. The next day they paid me for that one. I don't think I would have gotten paid had I not spoken up.

Now the second shop I did for them is late being paid. I've just emailed them again. The site says they pay in 30-40 days and it has been more than 40 days. I've also noticed that the shops that used to pay $15 to $40 are reimbursement only.

I'm just wondering if they are in financial trouble.

I really cannot speak much about specifically Shop Angels as they have had only one client in my market that I am aware of and for a munificent $12 I was left sneezing for hours. I did get paid promptly and without demand, but that was several years ago.

What I have seen over the years is that financial troubles with a company are indeed most frequently seen by delayed payments and promptly making payment when you refuse to take more work before your outstanding work that is past due is paid. I don't normally see reduction in fees with troubled companies--rather many of them need to start bonusing to get the shops taken as shoppers begin to shy away from working for them. And of course if you can't pay the $15 you already owe the last shopper, chances are you can't pay $15 plus a $10 bonus to the next shopper either.

But what I would not do is put out warning signals of financial troubles based on slow payments until/unless they become chronic and one or two months, one or two shoppers, is not yet chronic.

If they have shops you want to do, continue suggesting they get their arrears payments cleared up before you will take more shops. If the shop no longer offers you good value, don't take it.
I addressed their payment issue in the other Shop Angels thread which was about a week ago...

Shop Angels actually does not usually pay 30-40 days after shop completion. In the years I have shopped for them, I've noticed that they pay toward the end of the month, for the previous month. Shops completed in April were paid May 28th. Since they usually try to schedule the majority of their shops the first week of the month, it's likely that April shops were completed April 1-7. Since they were paid May 28, their payment is more like 50-60 days. I've never had to ask them for payment, but then I usually wait until a payment is a week or 10 days late before I contact a MSC.
There are already two Shop Angels threads on this subject matter...

ADDED: To the OP, this discussion should be in the Mystery Shopping Company Discussion area. Do you know how to use the search feature to find recent discussions on a particular subject before creating a new one?

I was not being snarky. I was trying to help you out. I did a search and found two recent threads within the past month or so which I posted to save YOU the time. And in one of those threads, I posted verbatim and e-mail or announcement from Shop Angels explaining their system change.

I think YOU are the one being ungrateful. But don't worry about it; I won't try to help you anymore.

a month ago is not recent by any means. I had seen it and a lot has happened since then. I am aware of the email, and the posts were around the time of the email. It has now been a month (or 1 payment term by their terms) and I was just seeing if anyone had received any update since then.

In reference to the two links that I posted earlier to try to help you, one has a post dated June 3, 2014 and the other one has a post dated June 10, 2014. Last time I checked the calendar, both of those dates were less than a month ago.

And I don't appreciate your b*tch PM to me. Feel free to toggle me. Thank you.

that was over 25 days ago...we have now passed a new payment history and it is completely relevant to ask a question on a status since we are now at the 2 month mark (or 2 pay periods) for several of us shops.

There was not B PM, i just politely asked that you refrain from snarky posts when someone is trying to get information.

Original Message:
I would prefer if you would refrain from using snarky posts from when I am gathering new information. The forums are created to get information and offer assistance. If you felt the need to belittle me or be brash, I would have appreciated if you would have kept your comments to yourself or PM'ed me instead of trying to belittle my post. I have reviewed the search and found that no recent posts were created as we are now in a new month and no further discussion had occurred. I was seeking to get information on a topic that had gone dead.

In the future, I please ask that you avoid using snarky tones in posts when shoppers are trying to get true information.

Well then someone else is using your name to send multiple PMs. I only opened one which was entitled, "no need to be a biznatch." That was such a polite PM now, wasn't it.

Whoever is using your account, tell them to stop PM'ing me.

Whether the info is new or not, it's best to post it on an existing thread so there's continuity in the information and updates, imho.
It is a good idea to do a search before asking a question and to know what current related threads might exist. There are two recent threads dealing with issues related to payment by Shop Angels.

To give continuity and to make it clear that the payment question in this new thread is not a one time payment issue by one poster, it makes sense to add the question to one of the recent threads on the same subject.

So, now there appear to be on-going questions about payment issues with a Shop Angels. This is a concern to me and might be something those of us who work regularly with them need to monitor.

Maybe the moderator can combine the threads.
An update for anyone who is looking for payment for May shops. I just got notice this evening that I was PayPal'd for my May shops. The last payment I received was 5/28, for April shops.

Hope everybody got paid!
Thanks to the Mod! Have a Happy 4th of July!

Mod note: You're welcome. You too!

I was just wondering what a "B PM" was. Sounds like something that might respond to Milk of Magnesia.

I fail to see how Shop2's original response was snarky by any interpretation. I guess some people like to see the worst in anything. And I thought *I* was pessimistic! Ha! smiling smiley I also fail to see how earlier in June is outdated, or 'dead'; and why additional questions couldn't have been posted to one of those threads. I agree about the continuity issue. Just because it's a new pay period, doesn't make it a new topic. Just new questions/information on an existing topic.

I agree, StormCloud. I have one MSC that pays weekly and another one or two that pay every two weeks. Does that mean I should start a new thread every week or every other week if I have a payment question? I think not.

And on a totally unrelated side note, I am now at 2000. P-A-R-T-Y!

To quote the original snarky message : "Do you know how to use the search feature to find recent discussions on a particular subject before creating a new one" and to quote the guidelines "Add a positive contribution to the community".

The question implies the assumption that the OP is incompetent in using a simple search feature and assuming that the OP did not do the action that that feels so pressing to throw a fit about rather than a simple "not yet" or "yes".

There was no necessity in creating a demeaning message and making the assumption that a search had not happened. When no conversation had been had in roughly a month about the topic and we are in a brand new month, it can be completely relevant to create a new post.

The moderator sorts through posts and will make the judgement ultimately if it is worth combining a thread. One should only respond if they are adding "a positive contribution to the community", which i am lacking to see the positive contribution that you brought other than creating only a barrier to receiving the information sought after and trying to warrant bad judgement off a assumption.

For the future, let me remind you of a nice lesson that is said around the Midwest. Never assume, because all you do is make an ASS out of YOU and me (ASS-U-ME).

She didn't imply anything negative, you inferred it.

She asked you a question. A very reasonable question. And you were apparently having a bad day and decided to take it out on someone who was trying to assist you. She went out of her way to provide you with helpful links to relevant threads, which are still very recent, I might add.

Maybe you shouldn't respond unless you have a "positive contribution."
There is nothing snarky about asking someone who appears, by post count at least, to be a newer member of the forum; if they've checked everything out yet and suggesting places/ways they could find the answer they're looking for. And, it's not unreasonable to presume that maybe they haven't, when there are recent threads on the very subject the newer-seeming poster is asking about.

Tlt14 is right on ~ nothing negative was implied, but somehow your very lively imagination turned it into that.

And, I don't know why you think that saying is exclusive to the mid-west? I think it's pretty much universal to the English language. smiling smiley

Pul-eeze, let's not bring The Moderator into this! (You may need to do a search to understand my strong feelings on the subject.) The Moderator is, hands down, the best!!

MSGurl apparently uses the Urban Dictionary instead of The Associated Press Stylebook as her writing guide. I received a lovely PM from her entitled, "no need to be a biznatch." I ignored it and did not respond. Isn't that what you are supposed to do when a child is throwing a temper tantrum?

Then she feels the need to send me another lovely PM entitled, "STOP BULLYING SHOPPERS!". I ignored it once again and did not even open it to read it. So she comes back to the forum to continue her temper tantrum and unnecessarily drags some of you in to it with more PMs.

Well, I think it is waaaay past her nap time. Or maybe she needs a diaper change? {Hands her a baby bottle full of Milk of Magnesia.} GOT SNARK?

Shop2LiveinFL....what are you talking about?

And yes my post count is low, because it is a newer SN smiling smiley

So you are a troll who has been kicked out of the forum before and now you are lurking under a new forum name? Finally something that makes sense!
