Ritters

Has anyone done their gas station shops I was trying to find out what has to be done and how many pictures are required. I asked and they replied information is located on line. What I could see was nothing unless you sign up for the job

Every gas station client has different requirements and since you already named the MSC in this thread, forum members can not refer to specific gas stations. I suggest applying for one, read the guidelines, perform the shop and then decide if it is worth your time and effort to perform the shop in the future.

Thanks
I just wanted to know what pictures are required. Another company wanted a picture of all the pumps
Beware Ritter often sends you on wild good chases for out of business ones and rebranding. You can be called into court for them to prove it was/was not rebranded. They offered me $12 to go to court to verify those were my pictures etc.
What a waste of time.....
Marylo, the station brand I do for Ritter does not require a picture of each individual pump. It requires pictures shot on the diagonal of the area under the canopy including all the pumps, an overall, the main id, maybe the canopy, just the general run of the mill pics on a station shop, any infractions etc. This may not be the brand you're considering.

Thanks that is what I wanted to know I think I will try one. The gas station I did for them before is not the same. I just din't want to have to take 30 some pictures
I did one of their gas station audits that was unrevealed and I earnerd every penny of the $25 bonused fee. I had to take loads of photos of non-compliant items. I won't do another one for under that. WTBS, they do have many gas station clients and some are easier than others. I do like the ones that just want photos to verify upgrades, but I think those are revealed.

They are wonderful to work for and with. I have never had any problems that were not my making. They will help you locate the station if necessary. I have visited a few that were rebranded but have never been asked to go to court and cannot imagine that would ever be the case. Pictures are easy and you do get some free goodies.

that's a terrible suggestion. Always ask the msc for
a copy of the report ahead of time. No reason to take
a money loser or time waster just to see what it is.

Most ritter gas shops are assigned as routes and
their route rates are the lowest paying in the industry.

Gas shops you see listed on the boards is either because
a route shopper is out of town this round, gave up the route
or a reshop is needed for whatever reason. They do offer nice
bonuses on these shops from time to time.

I asked the scheduler and she said the information was on line I than called and left a voice mail. She didn't return my call I guess I will forget about it.
Thanks everyone for your help

Another MSC is starting an unbranded gas station project that will require pictures to show that (former) signs were all removed. It never occurred to me that we could be asked to go to court to defend our work. Did anyone else see the unbranding project start-up e-mail?
So how many other shoppers have successfully gotten a report ahead of times as Techman suggests.... I can bet about zero.
That is rare and not often available.
Well you have just lost that bet. I frequently ask for guidelines and/or the report prior to shops. Some MSCs refuse to provide either, some gladly provide both and there are even a few who have suggested I assign myself the shop and there will be no penalty for a timely cancellation if I feel the work is not commensurate with the fee. And yes, for those MSCs I have it in writing.

The Ritter shops in our area do not require any photos, they are shops, not audits though.
The only photos I have to take are if a pump is out of order or if there are problems in the restroom.
Is there a certification quiz before you can do the shop? I would think that would give you an
excellent idea of what's involved before you take one.

With Ritter all of the guidelines are available within the shop details before you accept it. Not sure why that would be a problem.

They have a wide variety of shops, both reveal and non-reveal that can have as few as 1 photo, to as many as 20 if there are issues. I agree with the idea of take and do one shop locally to see if it is something you want to consider. They are one of the most reliable companies for on time payment. The individual fees may seem lower, but if you can do 2-3-4 of those assignments in an hour, then the cumulative pay rate may not be as low as it seems on first look. As someone stated, some shops may also require purchases that are reimbursed, so it can be a side benefit.
And some require purchases that are not reimbursed as well.

The MSC that I use for gas station shops has two types of shops for most of its clients when the station in question either de-brands (goes private or out-of-business) or re-brands (switches to another national brand).

In either case, the client usually wants photos of any station feature that contains the brand logo or its color scheme. These include the canopy, the price sign, the dispensers and, in some cases, the store front. All of the de-brands and re-brands that I have ever done I have been given a letter to present to the attendant that authorizes me to take those photos.

The only beef I have is that there are no purchase requirements at any of the shops and, at times, the management of the station will refuse to allow the photographs to be taken. In that case, you need to go off-site to take your pictures requiring you to zoom in to get the necessary detail that the vendor is looking for. And, often, the MSC is not authorized to pay bonuses for gas mileage so I don't do these anymore if they're not in my usual travel path.

Hmm, interesting.

I just started with Ritter today (after failing the certification quiz 5x in a row - only to finally get it approved because
the quiz had the WRONG answer ... sheesh) and I don't see where there are any gas station shops offered (reveal or non-reveal)
that don't require photos.

SandiAigo - you are in same general region of the country as I am, so ... wondering why your audits would have different requirements?

So far so good - the job was not difficult and I think they will be a good addition to my routes as it was pretty quick. I haven't done the report yet, but it didn't look terrible.

When I run into an inconsiderate scheduler like that I PASS....if they can't help you bef the shops they are usually no good after!
There is a scheduler for them who's last name is similar to Ritter, is that who you're referring to? If so she is not the owner.

The owner is male. I am not talking about a female scheduler but the owner who also schedules.

Reiter is the name you are thinking of.

So far I am really happy with them. I have done a few <oops! let's just put "gas station"> jobs, they went well. Fair compensation for the time involved.

I also love the fact that I can take a bunch of jobs and schedule them for the final completion date, but then do them earlier as they work into my routes. That flexibility is priceless.

Mod note: I think you forgot that the MSC is named in the subject line! Easy to do. smiling smiley
Ritter used to be owned by a man named Ritter but that ceased to be the case 6 or 7 years ago, I think. The current owner of Ritter has never had anything to do with scheduling.
And you know this how? I talked to him and it was not 6 or 7 years ago.
And he WAS the owner at that time and he WAS scheduling.
If you have information please enlighten us to the current owner.
Thank you

Probably because I don't do shops for the same client that you named in a post after this one, which you should remove, btw.

Because I know Bill Ritter, the former owner of RitterAssociates. The current owner is heavily involved with the MSPA and you should be able to find out his name relatively easily. I don't feel it's up to me to supply ownership information. I was simply supplying facts as I know them to be true.

To the best of my knowledge, which is quite recent, Ritter has 5 schedulers, one of which is a man. He is not the owner of the company and has scheduled there for many years. He does not work out of the main office, however, so you wouldn't have spoken to him if you called there.

Do you have the name of the person you talked to who claimed to be the owner?
I've never had a problem with completing one of their gas station shops. Do your homework and check online first and you shouldn't have a problem. Mine don't have pictures that are required. They pay on time and never hard to work for.
