Maritz -- how long to assign shops?

I have been shopping for roughly one year and just registered with Maritz. There were several shops available in my area, so I requested a few yesterday. When should I expect to hear whether they are assigned to me or not? I am hoping to include a couple in my route on Friday but I am starting to worry that I may not hear back by then.

I like this company but my experience with them, is that it has taken them a long time to understand the modern business model of feeding us emails about available shops and so they are lax on contacting the Shopper regularly. They don't seem to feel the need to contact us like many other MSC's do on a daily, sometimes (excessively - same exact shops) on a couple times a day basis. They tend to like to use the phone, although calling them sometimes is hit or miss. I was shocked the other day when I got a shop reminder notice in my email from that company. They still like to snail mail checks, but I heard that they may be able to do direct deposit, but it's hard to see where this info is on their website to sign up for dd.

Typically, it is "Contact us, as we do not contact you"...after you have put in a request for a shop, go back and check in a couple hours, then at the end of the day, then login the next morning to see if it was accepted. But I have seen them take a couple of days to accept an application for a job. Even though, I keep good records and am diligent with checking back, I prefer companies that let me self-assign and send me "ACCEPTED" in the subject line of emails within a matter of hours, not days.

I find that companies who drag out the decision over days to accept or decline an application for a shop are the ones I do less and less work for. There are plenty of companies who respect my time and understand that I am loading up my calendar and cannot chase companies down who don't even give me a courtesy email either way within 24 hours. Don't get me wrong, they are a respectable firm but just somewhat behind the times.
Maritz is of a different business model altogether.

Once upon a time I loved Maritz. I still do, I just don't shop for them much anymore because I don't want to waste their time, or mine.

My previous relationship with Maritz was this.... I'd get a phone call from them saying "We have a number of gas station audits in your area. They're revealed shop/audits... you want them?" They'd then tell you the shops go from Point A to Point B.... ask again if you want them, then throw out the "Okay, so you want all of them, or a chunk of them over by Point A or Point B." "All of them" was.... 60 audits!

It is phenomenal to have such steady work from a company, and not scrounge and scrape and piecemeal together 60 shops, with 60 different guidelines, 60 different websites to enter your info, 60 different schedulers and editors to deal with. They hand them to you.

However.... I don't shop for primary income anymore, I like my variety now, I want one or two of these shops, one or two of those, etc.... I have a bit of shopper courtesy... I don't want to create a hole in someone's gas station circuit because I took a big bite out of the middle. That's just me. There are other shops I can take and still make as much.

I do their cell phone shops... they're bonused quite well here... but sadly I gave up my gas station circuits for them years ago. I loved them, but I've taken a step back into shopping as a hobby, and I choose to leave the circuits to a professional.

Plan the work. Work the plan.
Thank you for the input. I did read up a bit on the company earlier today and it seems like people either love them or hate them. Tomorrow I might try calling them so I can hopefully get a response on my requests. I registered with them a few months ago (along with a couple dozen other new companies) but never bothered submitting all of the information that they wanted. At the end of each month they have been blowing up my phone so I'm assuming they are desperate for shoppers in my area.
Call them now and leave a message for second shift...

Shopping Bama and parts of Georgia.
I'm still learning 24/7.
Do as everyone has suggested - call them.

Do not wait a day or two; call them after a few hours after requesting. It is up to you to show your interest and aptitude.

Do not wait for them to call. After doing a certain amount of shops without incident, you shall be able to self-assign.
Hi. How can I cancel an application?

Call them and talk to the team handling that shop. It helps to know your shopper number when you call.

Please give them a call, that is the best way to get a response from Maritz. I think they are great company to work with.
