How do you get your foot in the door with Coyle?

Does anyone know how to get their foot in the door with Coyle Hospitality? I have been for trying for months to request their phone shops. Does anyone know who schedules them?

They will contact you when they have shops in your area. They require very detail-oriented shoppers and their reports are exhaustive. I usually pass on their shops.

Been with them for awhile and I've yet to get anything. Just keep trying. Eventually they'll need to start using someone "new". They do have some pretty awesome high end assignments. Can't blame them for being picky about who gets what.
Patience. I never did a Coyle phone shop, but started with restaurants that were outside the immediate Los Angeles area where they probably had more trouble finding people. It was a good excuse to go on mini-trips as well. It's still fierce competition, but I kill myself on the reports and get roughly half of what I go out for with them.
I finally got one of their shops a few months ago and it was cancelled by the company. So sad because I really wanted to try that shop. Very occasionally I receive e-mails with shops that are open but I still have not done an assignment.
Apply to the phone shops. I have done several phone shops and fine dining shops with them. Writing is key with Coyle and they really require detail. The writing samples they provide must be followed to the letter to obtain a good score and for them to want to continue working with you. The rewards are amazing shops!
They have very few shops in my area and those shops are not even remotely close to me. Be patient and or get your feet wet with other companies smiling smiley

I've only done shops from their main website (I started with phone and dining shops), but Coyle apparently has easier shops on their ShopMetrics site: [coyle.shopmetrics.com] This is a separate site from their higher-end site. Although I've never done shops from this site, perhaps it's an easier way of getting your foot in the door?
Be careful what you wish for. My husband did some Coyle (targeted) phone shops which involved calling various travel agents and asking about Italian tours. He was given a list of about 30 people to call. He did 9 calls, and was only able to speak with 3 people. The others were either no longer employed with the agency, or dead! And if you don't reach the target person, you don't get paid. He was not too happy about that.

The Shopmetrics site they maintain is slightly less intense than the main one for meals, my own experience. I did an apartment shop on Shopmetrics that was equivalent writing to another major apartment shopping company.

Not sure if there's much pull when crossing over between them. I started with Coyle Shopmetrics late, and noted in my bids that I had been doing dining for the other site. I've gotten most of the assignments I go for there as a result, and they don't have the one year time limit that the main site does.
Make sure this is what you want. I just did my first restaurant shop for them. They said it wasn't detailed enough. Now I am not getting paid for the shop AND am not being reimbursed for the meal which unfortunately I will have to fight about.
They are a lousy company to work for. I avoid them like the plague.

Once you enter a very detailed and accurate report, the editors are instructed to go in and make it all flowery and positive, even when the experience was not.

Your work is not being presented to the client as you did it. It will have been altered SIGNIFICANTLY to fit the client's wishes.
I got in rather quickly. I have done two restaurant shops and that was enough! They are too detailed!

While the reports are very detailed, I found (I've only done restaurants for them) that my memory for details has gotten a lot better. The first time I did an assignment, I made voice notes, now I just text myself timings and interaction quotes.

Now that I have my note system down, I think if I was working uninterrupted, I'd be able to finish my reports in about an hour. Usually I bang out the narrative, then do the checklist, then go back over the narrative and checklist. From start to finish, that'll be 1.5 to 2 hours, but that's with interruptions or me putting on the TV while I do my final check through.

They've definitely grown on me.
They are very specific about not using your cellphone during the shop, so I thought texting would be out.

I believe they say that if you are remembered as using your smartphone excessively during the evaluation, you will not be paid. I've taken that to mean that if you are super obvious with your note taking that you get IDed, then you won't be paid.
