I have on occasion done jobs for Service Sleuth in the past but was never aware they used an outside editor. I do very little work for them in part because they are so slow to pay as their 'normal' pay cycle.
I had a rather unprofessional response from an editor at Wordsmith in respect to a shop I did for Service Sleuth.
I find editors, when they comment at all, can often be terse. iIt is due to how they are evaluated and paid at many companies. Care to elaborate more on what was troubling?

I was asked for more detail on an interaction that involved me ordering a specialty coffee.

For perspective, the order taker did not say anything but, "Can I help you?"

When the editor asked for more detail, I replied, "I reported the interaction as it happened. I do not know what else to add."

This editor replied back that I have an attitude and it goes from there.
At first, I was annoyed. Then I took it as a challenge to ask this editor for specific answers to explain her "threats."

I wish I could post all the emails sent between the 2 of us.
I did some investigating and found out who the owner of Wordsmith is. I started to cc her on my emails to this editor. The tone from the editor changed.

The reason I started this thread was I am wondering if I should make Service Sleuth aware of this.

What do you think?

Thanks.
I don't know that I have ever dealt with this company, but I have shopped for SS, though not frequently.

I once had a similar exchange with an editor about an employee's lack of words, I said that that was all that was said to me, and I did not know how I could report anything further that was said short of making up a conversation that did not take place. Then the editor thought I accused her of telling me to make stuff up. Then I cleared it with the next email, and she elaborated that she wanted more extensive narrative about WHY the person did not do what they were supposed to do. I added a sentence or two stating I did not have any idea why the person did not do whatever it was they were supposed to, and that there did not appear to me as a customer any special situation happening that precluded him/her from doing so. All was good. :-)

I don't know that I would report to SS at this time. I would probably not, myself. I have never complained about any editor to anyone higher up the food chain at any MSC, personally, although I did tell one scheduler that asked why I no longer applied for her shops that I did not do so as I did not care for their editors.

It seems to me that your goal of better, more respectful communication happened through dealing with the owner. Is that enough? Only you can determine.

This is almost the same thing that happened to me.
The editor got more belligerent the more I asked for clarification. Apparently, she did not like the taste of her own medicine.

I am still thinking about sending this to Service Sleuth. I did email the owner about wanting to discuss a situation with one of her employees. I never heard from the owner.
I just challenged a score of 9 for my report of a super-quick oil change shop for Service Sleuth. It took 6 days to be edited, and there was no reason I was given less than 10. I challenged it, but if I get something back with an attitude, I'll email Wordsmith AND Service Sleuth.
Some of the editors go to far. We do not need to be insulted by them. I just had the same experience with another editor from a different MSC. I stood my ground. I was basically called a liar. I told the MSC that I wanted all of the information filed with the correct CEO. The editor changed my Reviewer Comments 4 times. I copied all of them for proof. This was one of those shops that took hours of my time. Phone call, on-site interview and report.

Thank goodness I did the shop with a bonus. I also like this company and always get a bonus, I have no problems with their schedulers either. I told the company I would never shop another shop for them with the same editor. We'll see what happens in the future. Always keep a copy of the Comments when you are insulted.
I was used to 9-10's with most of my companies, then one day a intellishop editor made remarks about my shop and gave me a score of 6!

Talk about insulted..tongue sticking out smiley

Well, did the order taker make eye contact or stare at the counter. Did he or she speak clearly or mumble? What about a smile? Did they ask the question with enthusiasm, or did they give you a sullen passive-aggressive feeling that they'd rather be anywhere else, doing anything other than helping you?
I stopped doing phone call shops for Service Sleuth because of one of their editors. I performed 17 phone shops in a few days. I received a 10 rating on those reviewed by one editor. Another editor, however, kept giving me an 8 for various issues, including spelling and grammar. I seemed very odd that I would only make errors on the reports graded by her and not on any others. And spell check should have found any spelling errors before the report was submitted. It was not worth the frustration for $2.50.
Maybe they thought "telephone" had two Ls so they were marking off for spelling. Don't take it personally. Those ratings don't mean much but I know it is really annoying when you do stellar work to stumble over a reviewer who doesn't.

Or maybe you said, "phone" and they only wanted to see "telephone." You just never know why they do what they do. I had a grammar school teacher once who marked off if I used the word "kids" in an essay; he insisted on "children."

Time to build a bigger bridge.
I just had my second rude email form editors at this company. The first ended up with me being given a 6 because the editor didn't like my response to her rude email.

On this latest shop, I was asked for my opinion. I an now told to fix my response because it doesn't make sense. I really don't want to be asked for my opinion if I am going to have it corrected. Especially if the editor is rude, which they seem to be at this company.
