My First Ardent Job

I was selected to attend that awesome Mexican food place training with lunch included. I'm excited! Those of you who have worked for them, is this a good avenue for me to pursue? I'm new at this. This is my second mom nth shopping. I started with iPhone apps and now I'm working for several other companies.

You will learn a lot at the training. The first shop report will take you three times as long as your third shop report. Don't be discouraged! After that steep learning curve, you will welcome those free meals. Also, this is a great place to train your observation skills, as you will get sample reports and editor feedback.

Yes, it is a good company, and decent pay (if you do not go crazy on your order). The report is lengthy, but very doable. One tip- try not to put off entering the report. Since there are a lot of areas to fill in, you might have to break up your entry. Also, if you use a voice recorder, keep in mind that there is a lot of white noise. Playback can be tedious. Just be prepared for it. I usually take a seat within view of the serving line. Enjoy your meal!

My advice is to not schedule other MSC jobs on the same date. Particularly in the beginning, you should concentrate on the Ardent shop alone. Once you get the format and narrative down, you can begin to schedule other jobs. I've been doing these for several years but still try to not overload myself on the scheduled date. It's easier to enter the report if that's all I'm doing that evening.

Ardent is a great MSC to work for. The Mexican food shop report is a bit overwhelming at first, but it does get easier with time. "Copy & paste" is your friend with the narrative (and it is encouraged by the editors). I do suggest you join their PRIVATE Facebook group--I have learned a lot there that I likely would never have known had I not joined. I have been shopping for them since 2011, but just recently joined the FB group.

Well, that's like asking if the restaurant down the street from me would be a good match for you without knowing what you like and dislike. What I can say about this company is they are a great one to work for in that they are treat the shopper like a valued partner. Feel free to ask questions as you need to. The reports are on the long side and they have a particular format to follow. The training, both the written materials and the on-site training, is excellent. The reports get easier with practice. Many shoppers on the forum like this company and stay with them a long time. Some others find the work not worth the pay.

If Ardent is one of your first mystery shopping companies, you will find they are quite different from most.

I had my training the middle of November and anxiously waited for the Dec 1st release of jobs. I got my first assignment today. It was a location NOT on my list of about 20 I would be willing to shop, and quite a way out of my normal travel area. In other words, I would have to make a special trip to do this shop. I really want to work with this company and do these shops, so I don't want to hurt my standings with them right off the bat, so I'm asking some of you that work with them all the time. Would it be bad if I turned down the first assignment offered me?

I would just email and explain the situation. Then look at the list of "orphan" shops to see if any closer sites become available.
Ardent is very easy to work with, IMHO.

I have taken almost every location offered to me by Ardent. On one hand it is great that I have a lot of flexibility on when to complete their shops, on the other it's sometimes difficult to know on the 1st of the month if I can work a location into my schedule later in the month.

The report is kind of long but a lot of sections are optional or can be answered with one sentence.
