Pay to Shop??

Has anyone paid to shop with Satisfaction Services? I shop with them now, but have not paid the 9.95 to become a "member". Does it make a difference in the number of shops received if you have joined??

I have not paid to shop with them. I know of a few folks who paid to sign up with them before they knew better than to pay to shop. They don't seem to believe it was a worthwhile investment of their funds. The few jobs I have done for them were mediocre in pay and requirements but would appear to have been standard when compared with what others see from them.

Pay to shop shows up frequently as a question and with one very specific exception in the case where a trial signup allows one to change/update registrations with all Sassie companies more easily, I have heard no compelling reason to spend a dime on books, videos, referral services, certifications or any of the rest of it. You are working to make money, not to support someone else's agenda by exploiting you.
Thanks for the reply...one more thing, are there ligit lists of (sassie)companies or any companies and the areas they cover. I sometimes spend time filling out apps, only to find the company doesn't have shops in my area.
Generally companies do not let potential shoppers know who their clients are or what areas they shop. You can get some help on shops in your area by looking at the job board on Jobslinger.com. That is a free service/sign up and pulls jobs from SASSIE, the MSPA job board, the Volition.com job board and a few other places. The jobs you see posted there will be gone, but the posts stay on the board for several months. If you see a company has posted jobs in your area, sign up with them because clients most frequently are under contract for shops over a period of time, so the shops will post up again.
i HEARD YOU SHOULDN'T PAY TO SHOP,BUT WHEN SOMEONE RECOMMENDS A BUSINESS IT'S ONE YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR.They say the business you pay for gives you more money making opportunities. I have found that shops you don't pay for you have to pay out of your
pocket upfront and get reinbursed and it takes awhile to get your money back.

I think I am missing what you are trying to say. You can find opportunities from legitimate MS companies without paying for the source of the job, for sure. Yes, many of the jobs will require a small upfront purchase, and yes, you will not be reimbursed from anywhere from 2 weeks until several months after completion, depending on the company, their payment terms, and these days, their financial health. But, yes, jobs that do not require any out of pocket expenses, like banks, also exist.

If the "They" in "They say the business you pay for gives your more money making opportunities" then I suspect the "They" are those who financially profit from your payment.

I have never paid to shop.

I have no intention of ever paying to shop.

This month is slow because I am only up to about $1050 in fees and useful reimbursements for the month, but this month I am involved in a whole lot of non-shopping stuff.

To the best of my knowledge I have never suggested folks work for a company you need to pay for because I find that so incredibly unnecessary. Though there are many folks who suggest a company with a link for 'easy sign up' that they get paid for the referral and even that rubs me the wrong way unless the shopper referred also gets a bonus for their first job.
Then realize that as soon as you are asked to open your wallet to get shop opportunities or 'referrals' it is time to walk away.

As part of a job you may be asked to open your wallet, but those expenses are most frequently reimbursed or are 'built into' a larger fee for the shop. The 'standard' needed expenditure on retail shops is $1-$10 to be reimbursed plus a fee to be paid. The reason for the expenditure is to provide feedback on the cashier and a receipt that shows you were at the correct location at the correct time. There are shops where you will be spending more money, but as a rule of thumb, if the reimbursement is of no value to you personally, there is no reason to do the shop except for the fee.

There will be larger, reimbursement only, shops at restaurants, but only you can evaluate whether the 'risk' of a shop being rejected or reimbursement not forthcoming is worth the meal. These are personal choices that depend on your circumstances and interests.

Most generally shops that requires no expenditure are bank shops and your proof that you were at the right place and talking to the right person(s) is the business card(s) you provide.
satisfaction is relativly small... i just did my first shop for them and they were pretty nice i got to chat with a real person which is a bonus as opposed to emailing them... but if your looking for more shops sign up for many different companies... dont put your eggs in one basket...

jobslinger is the best free shop search site out there... i am using their premium set up and its the same as the regular one with more bells and whistles...

i paid for shadow shopper... or more accuratly i paid for the first month and then forgot about it and was charged the 99 more dollars... and that hasnt really helped me at all... their search is all goofy too...

bottom line is dont pay for shops... its not worth it at all...

My guess is that most of the 'free first month' or other 'deals' have as their basis that folks will forget to cancel and therefore will get to pay for a year. Thanks for your feedback cooldude581. I think a lot of folks who have paid for stuff that turned out to be next to useless won't admit it was useless for fear they will look like a fool.
aww i was the class clown... im used to looking like a fool *wink*

i would rather tell someone about my own mistakes so they can choose not to do them... than not say anything at all...

Ditto. I have little interest in watching others stumble on the same step that tripped me, so while I can hope they are less clumsy, a warning about it doesn't hurt.
I have done jobs for Satifaction Services, but did not have to pay them.

Don't EVER EVER EVER pay someone to let you shop. They are supposed to pay you, not the other way around. There are those who try their darndest to put piles of your money in their greedy pockets and I say PHOOEY to the lot of them.
