Service with Style

I did 6 shops, a total of $120 and this lousy company does not pay! All the time, effort and gas money wasted! I was counting on the $120 to help pay my bills. DO NOT WORK FOR THEM UNLESS YOU LIKE TO WORK FOR FREE!

On the other thread where you posted this information you also mentioned the oldest shops were mid-October, just under 60 days. What are their payment terms? Many MSCs don't pay for 60 to 90 days.

I did a shop in October. I checked on payment and there is a note on their website that says that October shops will be paid mid-December. If I'm not mistaken, they pay by check. That means I will probably see it more like the 3rd week of December.

Hi, kennlup, you sound like a new shopper and you sound frustrated. You can lower your overall stress with mystery shopping if you train yourself to research the company's expectations and their payment terms before you apply for shops.

The Service with Style is very open about when they pay. The login page, right under the area you log in every time you enter the site, says "October observations will be paid mid December."

The shops you performed in October are only due for payment in mid-December. Any shops you might have performed in November will not be paid until January. I'm pretty confident that you'll get paid according to their payment schedule.
I performed a shop in October and was paid today my mail. You should be receiving your payment any day or so.
It's not clear who you are telling to stuff it. Could you clarify?

You've been shopping for 20 years and Service with Style apparently pays in around 60 days, so why exactly did you come here claiming non-payment when it wasn't due yet?

Since kennlup wants to stuff it and other forum members seem to like recipes, here is one that should satisfy both needs.

mmm, might make that for meatless Monday.

I think I have only ever done one job for Service with Style. They did pay me.

OMG that's a riot.
You have me beat. I have only been shopping for 16 years.

I used to shop for SWS years ago when they had a big client in my area.
I put up over $400 x ten shops at least. I always got paid on time.

Why are you even doing $20 jobs if you are so awesome? That sounds like a grind. I no longer need to do those types of jobs.
I'd rather stuff these. Sounds delicious

Stuff it?

That's a pretty snarky reply to someone that is just trying to help you.

Service With Style has always paid me on time. They are one of the companies that I enjoy shopping for. They are fun and fair. True professionals...unlike the originator of this discussion telling well meaning peers who didn't jump on his band wagon of negativity to, "stuff it." Since they pay by check, maybe it got lost in the mail. Maybe the mailman didn't, "stuff it," in his mailbox yet. I thought the stuffed shells recipe was a hilarious retort.

2/2015 UPDATE: Things have now changed with Service With Style. Soon after writing a glowing review on this company, I performed another shop for them. I did this shop the exact same way I have done several other shops for them. I even ordered almost the exact same items as I did at another location of the same restaurant chain. They have a new editor who was very rude when she let me know that they would not be paying me for some of the items that I ordered. I contacted the owner who would not talk to me for several weeks, playing, "telephone," through her secretary. When I had another scheduled shop coming close to being due, she finally returned an email that I had sent multiple times. She essentially said that even though I had done the shops the exact same way several other times, that now she was changing the rules mid-game and not paying me for part of the shop. I received a check that was $25 less than what I should have been reimbursed. I was not given any accounting of what items they were not paying for, and none of them add up to exactly $25 less. Obviously the client accepted the report, so Service With Style received their money and just chose not to pay me what I was owed. Their old staff, who was great to work with, is no longer there and their new staff is rude and snippy.

I also got the impression that this company may be in financial trouble and is skimming off the top of shopper's checks. Further research showed that this company has a history of bounced checks to shoppers.

I work with service with style I did my first job on the 16 of October 2014, got my first check on 15th of December 2014. The check was for jobs done in the month of October only. November, jobs will be sent in January. Hope this helps.
I think I've only done one shop for Service with Style. They did pay me when they said they would pay me. My only complaint is that the expense reimbursement they offered did not come close to covering the cost for two people. The shop was at a restaurant to which I had never been, and I suppose I should have researched the restaurant a bit before excepting the shop. Had I done so, I would have realized how expensive it was and I might not have taken the shop in the first place because I would have seen that the reimbursement would not come close to covering the cost.

Kennlup joined the forum on Dec. 12, the same day they posted all three of these posts. I, for one, won't be getting too excited about what they have to say.
Can anyone explain to me if a job is offered as Job
Fee: $0.00 Expenses: $300.00?
I am not sure, I don't want to spend money and not be able to be reimbursed for it. IF you saw a job like this would you do it.
What kind of shop? Assuming a hotel shop, for shoppers traveling and in need of overnight accommodations the risk can be worth the reward. Many of the hotels I've seen have the reimbursements set that high while the actual expenses could be much lower.

Not everyone who gets a new account should be discounted. Over time, I've had several screen names due to log in problems or something. A 20 year history would mean this person was shopping since 1994! I

I wanted to be shopping in 1994, but it took awhile to figure out how to get into it! There was an ad in the newspaper back then, and I even made an appointment for an interview, but got hired on elsewhere and lost the chance.

How did you get into mystery shopping 20 years ago, @kenn?

Instead of creating new screen names why would you have contacted the owner of the forum to help with your log in issues?

Never had a problem with SWS getting payment for shops. Yes, they do pay later than most companies I work with, but they do pay.

I would be willing to do a whole lot more restaurant shops for them, but can't put out all of that money spent for the food and drinks and not get reimbursed for over two months. Having said that, I do enjoy the ocassional bar observation with appetizer shops since I am only spending $25-$30. Won't do more than one per month though.
I don't like to take the time to watch my emails for a reply from the site. I have four or five email addresses and just have auto log ins for most sites. If I took the time to wait on a reply from here...well, I usually post on impulse. It's something informative and fun to come to this site, and I feel lax with the rules. Maybe that is wrong, but that's how it is <--- I even endulge in terrible grammar when posting at 3AM. I'm so evil...

I have done some fine dining shops which had no fee, but reimbursed $250 dollars. While I don't generally work for food, with some fine dining shops, I have made exceptions.

I have always been paid correctly and on time with SWS. And I too, "stuffed it" into my bank account!
I did contact scheduler to get clarification. The shop would reimbursed up too $300 for a purchased of high end bag/pocket book. Honestly I can do a shop for $300 and wait 60-90 days for reimbursement. Not to say I did not take the job. Thank you Myst4au
I am glad that I have joined this forum, I am getting some really good tips on how to select shops, thanks everyone.
I would like to add, that if not for my shops , I would not have a savings account. This is what I use my shop money for.
Many of you can relate with me, as a single parent its very hard to save. So I just pretend I don't have this money.

Re: Trolls

The OP sounds like a typical troll, which I have occasionally seen on this fine site over my last year or so of membership. Forum members, why do you think trolls come here? When a new member (one who has recently signed up for an account in the last, oh, two weeks or so and has posted fewer than 5 comments) posts an inflammatory comment about a reputable company, should we even bother with posting responses other than to denounce the original jab? Especially when the OP replies to helpful comments with an insult. Methinks trolls might get their jollies from watching the thread grow.

Here's what Wiki says: In Internet slang, a troll is a person who sows discord on the Internet by starting arguments or upsetting people, by posting inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community (such as a newsgroup, forum, chat room, or blog) with the deliberate intent of provoking readers into an emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.
