Lost my paycheck (I know, I know...) - can anything be done?

I was so excited to receive my first physical paycheck after completing many shops (having already received some in direct deposit and paypal form) that I set my check aside to be deposited later. Mistake, and I even knew it at the time! I've looked everywhere and it's nowhere to be found - must have gotten thrown out with another stack of mail. Or it's lurking and I'll find it yet... but that's looking doubtful.

Anyway, this is with a Sassie MSC. I'm wondering if anyone has experience asking them to cut another check and putting a stop on the first. Willing to lose out on the price of stopping the check of course.. Crossing my fingers something can be done. Less than $100 in the end, but still.

Thoughts?

Welcome to the Forum! I saw a post in another thread where an MSC was going to charge $30 to stop payment and reissue a check, unless six months had passed. You should contact the company or your scheduler and ask what your options are. Good luck!
Which MSC? Since you have not named a particular client, it is okay to name the MSC. I have not lost or misplaced a check but our wonderful USPS has lost three of my paychecks in 2014. (There is actually a suspicion in the neighborhood that someone is stealing our mail since several neighbors have experienced similar situations.)

Once I realized what was going on, I called the MSC. They immediately put a "stop payment" on all three checks at no cost to me. Then the long process of reissuing the checks. It took so long to straighten out the mess that money earned in 2014 was not paid until 2015 and won't be applied to the current tax season.
Welcome to the forum.

Please keep in mind that what you received was a payment, not a paycheck. These companies do not have the same obligations as an employer might have. They are settling a contractual obligation with you, an independent contractor.

That being said, follow the advice already given and contact them.

I accidentally tore a check up and fortunately had not taken out the trash. Was able to tape it up and then used it for a credit union shop scenario. Sorry you have to go thru getting a replacement.
I did not receive a payment check from QAMS for a shop completed in 2014. They said they sent the check and provided the number. I told them it must have been lost in the mail. They researched it and found the check had not been cashed. They then promptly sent he a replacement check.
