EPMS --- It's not worth it.

After trying my hand at apartment shops again I find EPMS is not worth it. The report is long tedius and repetitive. It takes too long to report. I stupidly did 3 today and after entering one took 2 hours I had to ask for extension to get other reports in. I will do it so i get paid but more because I committed to do them. I was very tempted to cancel the other two but it is against my ethics to do so. This is a half rant half warning that the non video shops are not worth it. I can't comment on the video end but can't see how they would be any better. $45 for 3 hours time not worth it. Dont think I would do for $100.

It's been a while since I've done their video shops but as I recall the form was no different and just as tedious. I never understand when it's a video shop why they need all that information and narrative and why they just don't go by the video. After all, basically you're just putting down what's already in the video.
The only reasons they are worth it to me is because I have gotten the report down to an hour or less, it normally doesn't take me more than a few calls to reach a target, I wait until the written shops are nearing video rates and I choose locations to fit with flexible existing routes or take them during the third week of the month when things are generally slow anyway.

Do there video reports not require written narrative?

The video shops have the same reports as I recall.

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
Buffalo, the reports take me the same length of time whether audio, video or traditional.

I love, love, love doing these shops. Seriously. You are treated kindly on the shop and often given coffee and a candy bar. You get to imagine that you will live in a new place with beautiful imaginary furniture. You get to discuss the shop on the way home with your imaginary friend. Oops, too far.

I just sit down as soon as I get home and power through the report in under an hour. These are my best paying shops. What I can't understand in my market is why the video shops pay only slightly more than non-video. I haven't yet tried a video shop but maybe someday. So far it hasn't been worth my while.
Here traditional shops start at $35 while video pay $50 if they ship their equipment to the shopper, $60 if the shopper has their own. Obviously not worth buying a camera just for their shops.

I'm embarrassed to say how long it takes me to complete these reports. I am totally exhausted afterwards! I've done about 10 shops for them.
Are they harder than the Chipotle reports? I've gotten those down to about an hour counting stretch and tinkle breaks.
I will only do their video shops, and those rarely.

I gave up on them a couple years ago.....i live in a college town they are NOT cordial at all, and to have to describe their total outfit is nuts.....
Sometimes, the video shops have the same reports yet there are also times where the reports are somewhat brief, depending on who the client is. EPMS's reports may be long on narrative, yet if you have this expectation up front, you get used to seeing their writing style. After that, the report sort of flows.

In a way, I'm glad that there is a contingent of folks that still hate EPMS. That means more shop availability for me, all day long.
Funny, just got through with one of the video shops. I expect a full report and expect it won't take me longer than an hour.

pony123lucy, under an hour????? Wish you could come to SC and help me. Do you know of any online training that Ellis has? I could use some pointers on my narratives. Thanks. Peggy

So I accepted my first shop on friday with epms, and its a targeted person shop, I have made calls like every two hours and have not reached my target person yet because I was told I couldn't ask for the target... so what happens if I dont reach my target by the time the report is due? I was really excited for my first shop with them... amd now I'm getting worried

They will adjust the due date. Mine today was originally assigned like March 24 with a due date of March 27. I reached the target on March 27 and because of several issues including me being out of town part of the following week, we finally had the appointment today.

Just be sure to keep them updated. The reality is target shops can be hard to plan. I've had some where the target was reached on the first or second call and others where it took a week or more. Normally I pick them up mid month knowing my schedule is light the third week.

I love doing these shopes cause there easy once you've filled out the forms a couple times you sort of know whats next so it goes faster each time. Sometimes it draining having to go through details over and over again but worth the extra cash.
It takes me longer to do the Chipotle shops than the Ellis ones. I really dislike the Chipotle reports. I dislike the food pretty much too. I'm not sure why I keep doing the shops.

With the Ellis targets after you try for a while you can call Ellis and ask what to do. So far I have found them to be pretty reasonable. The first time I did one I was freaking out about all the goofy requirements like eye color. However, I think it is harder to remember where the bathroom is in the apartment and wall colors. Usually I get a floor plan.
This week was literally the first time I remembered an agent's eye color. A really cool shade of blue.

I use the note section on my iPhone when I get to my car and speak the details quickly as I am putting my seatbelt on, etc. "brown eyes, 5'6", tattoo left inner wrist, black pants, fuschia blouse, mole on chin, cool pops in the freezer of the model....."
I hate their reports as well, some of it is so repetitive. However I have gotten use to them now and get through them fairly quickly, so with that in mind I like doing their shops. I like looking at apartments for one thing and EPMS always pays on time. They are also flexible with deadlines if you need them to be.
I have never done these shops but from what I am reading $35 or $45 seems like much too little for the amount of work required. You could do 2 or 3 easy bank shops and make as much or more.

I can not understand how they DON'T know a target is either not there OR worse, is a manager and won't pick up the phone. I have done several where this has happened. Then sometimes you get the target on a Saturday on the phone but you were not suppose to get the target on a Saturday, so you get penalized $10 for doing the phone portion on a Saturday WHEN THE TARGET was working, even though you called all week when they were NOT working. Unfair and unprofessional in my opinion and I have told them more than once......
