Customer 1st shop through iSecretShop

I did my first shop for both of these companies at the beginning of March, nearly 3 months ago, and have not been paid. The only good thing is that the iSecretShop page shows that the payment is pending and not paid, so I have that proof. iSecretShop say to contact the company. I just did.

Is this the norm for either Customer 1st or iSecretshop? Quite disappointing that I have to track down my first payment.

ISecretShop is a portal, sort of a middleman, that posts shops and connects shoppers with shops and MSPs. The answer lies with the MSP providing the shop, in your case Customer 1st. Look up what shoppers say about them and good luck.

Happily shopping Rhode Island and nearby Massachusetts and Connecticut
vlade is right. It would be Customer 1st who would pay you. isecretshop is like Sassie, Clientsmart, and Prophet.

Was this your first shop with them? It's been a long time since I did my first shop with them, but I seem to remember having to complete a W9 before I could get paid. Did you complete one for them?
Yes, I know that iSecretshop is the middleman.

As I said, it is my first shop for both isecretshop and Customer First. Customer First being the MSP and iSecretshop being the middleman.

I did a search first but there is not much info, hence my post.

We don't fill out W9s in Canada. No one from either company has contacted me about that.
Have you provided some kind of tax ID like SIN or GST? If they require a W9 for US residents, maybe they require a tax ID for Canadian residents as well.
Disheartening to read you have had this experience. I just did a shop for them. You shouldn't have to do this but maybe you should email Nancy and ask what's up? Maybe we need to add something but if you are not a US citizen, you cannot and should not fill out a W9. It's not applicable to us.

Hi!

When you log in to the full website at iSecretShop.com (not using the app), you can click on the PAYMENTS/COUPONS tab on the blue menu. As you noted you have a payment pending there. Also located next to your pending payments is contact information for the person handling the payments for that MSP. There is an email, sometimes a phone number.

That is the person you should contact and they should be able to let you know what needs to be done to receive your payment.
When I contacted Customer1st I was sent an email saying to fill out a W9. I called Emma and was told that since I'm in Canada I'd have to go to the IRS site and track down some form, something like WBEN, and fill it out. I don't remember the name. She since sent me two emails with the US forms only. I've just emailed her again asking what is the name of the form I need to search for on the IRS site. I also told her I've been doing mystery shopping for 15 years for many, many different companies and have never had to do this but she didn't care.

I'm not impressed with Customer 1st for two reasons. One is that they never contacted me about it, just let the payment remain unpaid. That feels crooked to me. Also, since no other company has required this form I'm not impressed that they think they need it. I don't know if I will continue tracking down the name of the form, searching for the form, seeing if I can download it, seeing if I can sign it electronically, seeing if I can get it to them, then waiting "two Paypal cycles" as they call it for $13.

The form you want is the W-8BEN, Certificate of Foreign Status of Beneficial Owner for United
States Tax Withholding and Reporting (Individuals), available on the Internal Revenue Service website.

Here's a link to the form

I hope this is not the stumbling block:

If you do not have an SSN and are not eligible to get
one, you can get an individual taxpayer identification
number (ITIN). To apply for an ITIN, file Form W-7 with the
IRS. It usually takes 4-6 weeks to get an ITIN. To claim
certain treaty benefits, you must complete line 5 by
submitting an SSN or ITIN, or line 6 by providing a foreign
tax identification number (foreign TIN).

If I have to file form W-7 to get an ITIN then wait 4-6 weeks, they can stuff the $13.
I'll send it in without it.
Who is Nancy?

I got caught up in the I-9 thing. The company was holding my pay until I submitted my I-9, and then all the payments started flowing my way. This was for another shop company that lists open jobs on iSecretshop.com.
Hi, Emma here. I am sorry you had to wait so long for your payment. It sounds like everything was taken care of and you have been paid. If this is not the case please contact me as soon as possible and I will be happy to help you get this taken care of. Please note that we do require these forms because the IRS requires it of us. It is stated in the contract you sign with us that you are to request the forms so that there is no disruption in payment. My contact info is: Emma@mysteryshopperservices. com if you have any other questions. Thank you.
Not based on my experience with them. They have always paid their obligations once I have fulfilled my part of the contracted services.
I've done three shops through ISS for Mystery Shopper Services and BMA in May, and haven't been paid for either. Not sure I want to keep using ISS sad smiley

Again, ISS is only a software platform like Sassie, Prophet, and Clientsmart. Any payment will not come from ISS. It will come from the MSC you performed assignments with, BMA and Mystery Shopper Services.

Did you send a W4 Form to them? You will not be paid until they receive that form.

In the post almost directly above yours, Emma with Mystery Shopper Services has provided her contact information, Emma@mysteryshopperservices. com Did you contact her? Was she able to help you?
Any other feedback on this company? I did a search, not much comes up on this forum and they are not listed on the bottom of the forum in the official list of companies. A few jobs were posted on the ISS platform for my area. TIA
I was told that I would need to submit my EIN, which I do not have. Still working on figuring it all out.

Edited to add--Not applying for more jobs until I get it figured out.
