Clearly, and sadly, I pissed off Coyle-just venting

I had a great relationship with Coyle and did monthly restaurant and hotel assignments for awhile. I regularly score 19-20. A few months ago, I requested a shop almost 3 hours away for a haircut. (it really would have been awesome). It hadn't been assigned for a bit. Go figure...the day I get accepted into the early start for my grad program, they assign me the assignment. No time to cancel my request. I was to start school in 1 week and immediately contacted Coyle. No response so I emailed again. Three days later, I get an email from them saying they wanted to review the requirements for my upcoming assignments. I explained the situation and my previous contacts to them.

Fast forward...I have requested multiple local assignments every month and haven't gotten any. I get that they didn't like me cancelling. But seriously, I did a great job for them and was always dependable. I love working for them but guess the relationship is severed. Pretty bummed over it. Vent finished sad smiley

Ptfswwwwww (That was a vent being over.) Sometimes life does things to eggs, and to people as well. Hopefully at some time you guys will get back to a happy co-existence. And by the way, thanks for both sides.
My compliments to a good shopper and a great poster. That was an outstanding vent: professional, well-balanced, unemotional, insightful. I've got my fingers crossed that you and Coyle will come back together again.

Side note - wow - 3 hours - that must be some haircut.
I'm sorry that happened to you. The scheduling process is my biggest problem with Coyle.
It took me a long time, about a year, to get Coyle to approve my first assignment. It took another 6-months for my second. I performed several from that point within a few months. Then, it went back to nothing being assigned for about 9 months. I think it has nothing to do with flaking. My scores have been 18 or better.

Coyle's an interesting beast. When they need you, they're attentive and very cordial. When I have to contact them, it's a long shot at ever getting a reply. I've risked being a pain in the backside and just calling direct numbers, otherwise my emails and voice mails never ever get returned.

Here's the thing about life in general; if you want something, ask for it. If you're in the hole with them, what's the loss? You've likely had a working relationship with one or two schedulers or editors there, so call up a direct line with one of them and ask. It helps if you have your eye on a job that's currently on the board. I believe I got an early assignment from Coyle when I couldn't tell if I'd applied correctly, contacted them to verify, and the response was "You did it correctly... and I just assigned you!"
In their latest email, Coyle said they had cruises... I looked through both sites and did not see any. Anyone else see them?
They seem to have fewer cruises recently than they used to but they do have them. I just saw two of them this month but you could not have cruised with that particular cruise line before and we have cruised them a couple of times. Maybe next time.
